Just bought a 580exii, anything I should know?

Going to try and find the manual for this flash, ive been using the sigma 530 super and SB26's up til now so this should be a step up.
 
Hmm, thinking interesting I can do with it compared to the lesser flashes?

Also, does it work ok with RF602's?
 
one thing i feel you really need to be aware of is that it's absolutely useless as a pet.. Tee hee hee..

Not really.

More powerful.

Can act as master in wireless TTL mode.

Theoretically, more accurate TTL.

Takes a battery pack for faster recharge.

But it's not about the equipment.


Works perfectly with a 602, but I wouldn't use it on one. Basic manual wastes the whole point of buying a 580exII - more technology. Better off with a Yongnuo or older Nikon/Canon flash gun for that sort of thing, and a Yongnuo doesn't make you cry when it comes crashing down off a lightstand.

Great flash, but you'll soon get stuck without the handbook. Essential reading.

As for off camera, I do a lot of that and use 2 SB 26's and a sigma 530 super, however when I do weddings I need something on camera with good power and good ttl. Thats where the 580 comes in and thats why I bought it.

oooooh didn't know that was out yet, I've been hearing bits and bobs

its the 580 thats new not the 5d right :D
 
its weather sealed. and starts to smell like melting plastic if you fire off too many 1/1 shots in succession. The best thing about it is it works as the wireless commander to lesser flashes like the 430ex. brilliant if your into that.
