Hi,

After reading a few horror stories on here recently I was a little nervous when getting my DSLR out in a playground near the Catalyst Museum in Widnes this afternoon to take some shots of my son.

There were a lot of other kids and parents around so I was expecting some comments and had even half prepared what I would say if approached.

Glad to report that not one person made any comment or even took any notice of me that I know of. My wife was wondering around also and she didn't see anything either.

Just good to know not all the country has gone mad :)

Any concerned comments i have seen friends etc make before has been when people with DSLRs are taking pictures towards an area with kids from a distance, it concerns people a lot more when its less evident that they are with their own child.

Glad to hear you managed to have a nice session of uninterrupted photo taking though!

Usually the majority of people couldnt care less..

It's like most things - you only hear the bad news - sadly there's very little media mileage in good news these days

Took photos of my little lad at a local playground and park over the weekend. No problems at all, in fact got into some very friendly conversations :).

Hi, your spot on there, just thought I'd show the 'other' side to remind everyone that it's not all bad out there :)

It's only a matter of time. Eventually you will be taking the shot when there happens to be a nutter just waiting to lash out at someone and your taking photo's will be the excuse. This person will most probably also:

- read the daily mail
- have rather right wing attitudes
- suffer from erectile dysfunction
- have a less than fulfilled life

And be prone to rash generalisations.

Glad the irony was not wasted on you :) It was meant to be a tongue in cheek comment of course :)

And will have left the camera at home.

I was at a kids adventure playpark recently and there was a guy taking pictures of (presumably) his kids.

I wasn't aware I was staring till he'd worked himself up into a wee bit of a frenzy and confronted me saying "do you have a problem, is it against the law to take images of your own kids?"

I replied "nah mate I was just trying to figure out if thats the 85mm 1.8 or 1.2 lens you're using" he was quite apologetic ;)
