Capitalism seems to create greed unfortunately.

Almost unbelievable that this has been developed in communist Cuba.

Why?

What is going on in the west where capitalism is supposed to create compertition therfore enhance the rate development in most areas.

There are many other drugs being developed in the west, so why is it that communist Cuba developing drugs too is a black mark against capitalism?

Any proof this actually works. Anyone see the idiot on the one show the other week in Channel Islands with his miracle cure?

What p***es me off is the "cure for cancer" claim in the first place.
There'll be no "cure for cancer", because cancer is a catch-all name for a whole collection of diseases which share some common traits.

Not all breast cancer is the same, for instance, and primary lung cancer is very different from metastatic lung cancer etc etc.

It's bloody irresponsible for anyone to claim to have developed a cure for cancer, whether it's big pharma or some p*** poor Cuban backwater.

Cancer cure headlines have sprung up in the usual newspapers for decades.

Snake oil ???

Fda clinical trials will address precisely those 2 issues

The FDA pass drugs(and food) for use that don't cut the mustard over here. I would hope we'll carry out our own tests long before it gets to clinical trials.

One of many to come I'm sure, but a promising start

I still think the blanket cry of "we found a cure for cancer" is foolish and misleading.

This is how newspapers work, and sadly - how the journos are educated.

On the other hand | welcome all new science that has potential of being useful or interesting.

I wouldnt disagree with that but to be fair its the OP that claims its a cure for cancer, I think he got a little carried away :)

if you got the big C any hope of a cure is a lift up no matter how far fetched if either me or the wife were diagnosed i would be selling everything and hopping on the first plane out there ,claiming asylum

So one day that nice Mr Obama wakes up and says "hmm, I think we have been a little harsh on our friends in Cuba - this embargo thing has gone on long enough" and like the next week Cuba have a "cure for cancer" all ready for the gentlemen of US Big Pharma.

It's amazing that nobody knew that this little country 90 miles from the US had such a great biotech industry. I guess we were all beguiled by the cigars and colourful taxis.

It effectively induces auto-immunity. It will be interesting to see what the long-term effects are, though any increase in length of quality life will be worth having. I also note that the use is very limited.

Guess so. But the quality of medicines and health care in Cuba wasn't a secret
