Just a quick note for anyone who gives a flying whatever lol.
I have packed everything photography related in a box, and put it in the attic. I may return to it later, but for now i am just frustrated, things I think I would like to try are just beyond my reach, both finacialy and opticaly, so I have decided to give it a rest.
Thanks to everyone who helped me with my journey (they know who they are), I will still be visiting the site, even if I am not posting.

Thanks again Carpy.

Sorry it was a frustrating experience in the end.

Sorry to hear that Andrew, I shall miss your contributions, and look forward to when you're up and running again.

That's a shame Andrew, don't give up, just take break and come back soon :)

I think many of us hit a point where we feel stuck or fustrated for one reason or another.

Sometimes theres cheaper way around if it's money related, x2 converters in place of longer lens. or extension tubes instead of a macro lens. Other times it's the ability to get out, or to access places with health issues. This might be a place where AI created images could come into play.

The other issue is hitting what runners call the wall, just stuck for ideas, we probably all reach that point sooner or later. Sometimes changing subjects will help, switching from say landscapes to macro or whatever. I find setting myself a challenge, a target, or limiting myself to one focal length to force me to look for photos.

I haven't posted much recently, time is getting in the way of me getting out shooting, that should ease off after Christmas.

Whatever they reason, I like other will be sorry to see leave, hopfully your "mojo" will return soon and you'll be back.

Thanks for the advice, and you are right, it is a mixture of many things.
The fact that I am now down to 1 lens (m43) Olympus 40-150 kit lens).
My Olmpus EM1 mki, only allows things like focus stacking with thier pro lenses, which I cannot afford, whereas Panasonic allow this with any lens.
I am not sure if I prefered the menu on my old G5 more, when compared to the Olympus.
I only ever go to my local park, and that is when my wife and I are walking our dog, even then thing like the Swans or duck, even the local squirrels are just to far away for the 150mm, and end up being a small dot in the centre of the frame lol.
I have tried shooting at home, but struggle for ideas, also I have no decent background to shoot against. The only place I have to shoot in the house is the spare bedroom, unfortunately this has a dartboard in it, on the only free wall, and that now has a few holes in it where the grand kids did not quite reach the board.
I have looked at many different options to overcome some of my issues ( the ones that are not just in my head). They include looking at cheap manual Chinese lenses, I thought abaout the Oly 75-300, but the lens is very light and I shake a bit lol. I even thought about a G80 and the 12-60 kit lens.
Unfortunately for me they are all just dreams, finaces will not allow me to even get a used Oly 14-42 kit lens. (I had the 14-42 ez, but it broke and stopped zooming).Plus I was not keen on the electronic zoom for some reason.
This is why I have made the decision to give up (for now), if I cannot afford even the cheapest of kit, or dont go to different places, then how can I try different things to see what I prefer.

Cheers all Andy

Andrew - it might be worth seeing if you can meet up and go for a photo-walk with some friends or other toggers from the site. Where are you based?

I am in Bradford (west Yokshire), I am a member of Bradford photography group on FB, but apart from a few people posting images, it is just advetising their classes.
I have looked for other groups in my area, and found Bradford camera club, but they are to far away for me as I dont drive.
I am literally the original Billy no mates lol, due to not drinkink I dont socialise anymore, so dont know anyone apart from next door neighbour lol.
As for going out, walking any distance is a bit harder these days, my mobility is not what is once was, every thing always seems to be on the other side of town lol.

Andy,
Lack of gear is just an excuse, if your current gear isn't good enough for squirrels etc then just find different subjects.
Are you sure that you can't do focus stacking with your camera? Surely it can be done manually and processed in PS, but maybe you don't have PS? If that's the case, why not ask people on here to process files for you?

You think that you're short of space indoors? You should see my space, it's impossible but I manage. See this, https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/tutorials/lest-we-forget.168/ this https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/tutorials/food-photography-—-shooting-in-a-small-home-studio.167/ or any of these challenges https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/list-of-lighting-challenges.763636/

Indoor photography may not be your thing, but you won't know until you try:). You may not be able to afford photographic lighting, but I'm sure that you have at least a table lamp floating around somewhere . . .

I'm planning to do another food photography shoot soon, probably in the next 2-3 weeks. I'm pushing my luck, the great thing about food photography is usually that it's colourful, but for this shoot I'm going to shoot a bit of browned bread on a brown wooden board, which will be on a brown background - it should be an interesting shoot:)

I'm in Baildon, very near to Bradford. Can you travel by train? I could pick you up from Shipley station. The shoot will probably take about 4 hours.

I'm not sure that my lighting gear will work with your camera, either it does or it doesn't and if it doesn't then you can either sit around and watch, or use one of my cameras, no problem. Even if you just watch, it may help to inspire you.

I'm old, my mobility and stamina isn't what it was and I don't drink either, but I just get on with it

You cant beat that for a kind and generous offer, you would be mad to not take Garry up on that

Shooting squirrels and birds in the park should be possible with cropping and a bag of nuts, some bread and bird food and... some cropping. I've taken pictures I'm happy with with 35 and 40mm lenses (FF).

Don't give up but do not pressure yourself. This is supposed to be fun.

Thanks Gary, that is a most generous offer, for which I thank you.
I dont have PS, I use free programs like PhotoscapeX and OM Workspace, unfortunately even these are limited due to my computer not having a graphics card fitted, I am using an AMD Ryzen 5 with onboard graphics.
I am going to take a break though, at the moment my head is in the wrong place, due to many things, me having depression does not help, but I have an appointment in the new year to get checked for Bipolar. Depending on the results it may explain a lot of thing for me.
Maybe in a couple of months things will look different and I will be in a better place, and once again enthusiastic about photography.
Until then I will be floating around the forum, looking at what other people are getting upto, and enjoying the images they post.
Thanks to all.
Andy

I understand but I have not taken a snap since the end of September due to a combination of age and injury but hope to get out and take a few Autumn shots before all the leaves go. I would have gone out yesterday in that wonderful sunshine but I had another commitment and unfortunately it is raining today. I may have to have another Table top session or I will not have enough images for club competitions.
