Did anyone on here ever work at the Kirkstall Brewery bar at Leeds Met?

How long ago? I was there from 96-98

Come on Kel.....you've got to give us more that that. I'm nothing if not a nosey mare!

I might do but I'm not Kel :p

Shush you

I'm going back there for a reunion and wondered if anyone on here has ever worked there

Never worked there, but I used to work nearby on "The Broadleas" :gag: trying to stop the local "yoofs" causing to much trouble for the new students.....they were the reason for the locked gates and extra security etc!! :D

 I remember our first year there around Bonfire Night they sent a burning car down the hill which of course ended up outside the gates.

My house backed on to the estate. But that was pretty much the only time we saw any trouble so you must have done a very good job. The bottom flats by the canal were open for the academic year before iirc, then they opened up the rest of it for my first year there. I loved it there so much, I became a "Halls VP" for my second year. Might possibly be why I had to resit my whole second year in 98-99!

Good times.

Our special treat used to be going to The Old Bridge Inn for Sunday Roast rather than the £2 giant Yorkshire filled with sausages, chips and gravy in the Kirkstall Brewery bar

Again, good times

Sounds about right.....loved my time working there, but at times was like swimming in custard with my arms tied behind my back!!

I remember going to the Bridge Inn fairly often for Sunday lunch, used to be great food.....often visited the Kirkstall Lights pub too, but no idea if it's still open as when I left Leeds its reputation had nose dived!!

Kirkstall Lights! I'd forgotten about that pub. Used to go up for quiz nights on the odd occasion but mainly we went as a beer stop after our Kwik Save weekly stock up

Bringing back memories now.

Have no idea what it's all like round there now but I'm looking forward to going back for a visit. Just scared that it might tarnish all my fond memories

I don't think much has changed.....I've travelled through a couple of times this year and didn't notice much....

Was the Sandford Arms at the top of the hill open when you lived there?! It's long gone now. Think it's been turned in to flats.....which is definitely a good thing!!

We didn't venture much up the other hill, we were advised not to.

You were advised right.....it was an absolute dump!! :gag:

The West End House was always good for a quiz.....probably 15 years since I went in there though!! Weirdly, I never ventured inside the George the 4th.....always looked like the kind of place where outsiders would go in, but not come out....ever!!

Anyway, sorry for hijacking your thread with talk of boozers.....I'm sure your students days consisted of much more than just drinking!! :suspect:
