Excellent surprise. My sister surprised me by knocking on my door a few days after my son was born, she'd flown in from Australia and hadn't told me.

Sounds like you had better have the camera ready to catch their expressions.
Great news for you though and a great suprise for the kids.

i have the santa suit, i also have a box to shove him in.. all depends on the time he get in..

i know it is daft but.. a few days do mean allot when he is where he is.. and at this time of year.

Julie that must have been great..

Sarah just had brat no. 2 say it's not fair dad not gonna be home....again..

the thing is i have let her go mad with decorating the house we have 7 trees... (her dad would have said no)

getting so excited..

thanks guys

Thats brilliant news....defo a Santa suit, doesn't matter how old they are :woot:

Don't forget the white wig as well as the rest of the outfit - that dome of his would be a bit of a giveaway!

Have a great family christmas with him home.

make him dress up as a burglar with a swag bag then when the children see him they'll be terrified but then he whips off his mask and it's DADDDY!!!! They'll be both excited to see him and relieved they aren't going to get robbed :lol:

Just make sure he whips off the disguise before someone whacks him over the head with a heavy object! :bonk:

What? Just like that picture of him on the wall of the local police station? :bang:

Why do you think he went abroad in the first place? :naughty:

Good idea there Joe. and the size of my kids more like gonna get belted if he tried it.

Nod i got the Wig...and gloves as the tan will also give it away..

Yes Jonathan hence we have to disguise him...

My daughter arrived from South Africa late last Christmas Eve. I knew she was coming, but my wife didn't. I thought she was going to faint when she answered the door.

Don't know I was working clearing an office when I was about 25 and one of my fellow workers jumped out of a box... I nearly **** myself

maybe i am still toying with the idea but it about getting him into the house and into the box without the kids finding out....

awesome news that he will be home for it, i've missed many a christmas through my bro being deployed. I think just the surprise of having him home will be enough! :)

A few years ago my parents used to go to Spain for 'snowbird' holidays for about 2 months. They had run out of some English commodity[I think it was a particular brand of tea bag] that wasn't available over there so I decided in a moment of silliness to take some over as a surprise.
So I knock on their door at about 9.45pm after a delayed flight pretending to be a spanish plumber. What I actually sounded like was Manuel out of Fawlty Towers and this hilarious conversation ensued with M&D having a 'discussion' about which of them had forgotten to tell the other that they had a plumbing problem and did they really want the hotel plumber to fix it at midnight.[they always exaggerated!] I would try to interject thro the door with pithy spanish sounding dire consequences whilst p***ing myself with laughter.

Anyway they eventually opened the door and Mum said 'I didn't think you sounded Spanish, you didn't bring any PG tips did you?!!

Had a lovely break with them both for a couple of days and they spoke of it for many years.

Happy memories RIP Dad

Duncan that is brilliant thank you for sharing....

Well as an update, Horrible week been all over the place flight delays and everything.. but as we speak i know he is somewhere between there and here. so keeping everything crossed.

I had to tell my son but daughter still doesn't know...and he won't dress up the spoil sport but at least he will be home.
