It's very nearly that time of the year again, a time when most will be surrounded by family and friends and having a merry time together, but please spare a thought for those live alone, who will likely spend Christmas alone, hardly marking the day let alone celebrating, it could be the old boy over the road, or the lady you see at the newsagents each day in time it could be you as well, so please spare them a thought and maybe 5 mins of your time to pop in and say happy Christmas, take them a mince pie, sausage roll or two or even invite them to share your table.

Even that little hello, happy Christmas can make such a difference

never a truer word like yesterday I was in Tesco when some one from Lyndsey Lodge (hospice) was collecting.I felt so sorry for him everyone was rushing past him with their 2 trolleys full of food etc ,not even putting in a few pennies or even acknowledging him.I stopped put a little something in his tin and wished him a Happy xmas and new year.He was so chuffed that someone gave him that second of their life to say a few words

I'm so very very thankful for the family across the road who insist I share their Christmas day meal with them.

If I ever need help - they are there for me - real neighbours and friends.

My brother insists that I spend it with him, his grand kids, extended family and the bun fight that is the "present" opening...
If I don't turn up, he comes and fetches me !
I'll turn up this year, (as usual), but just a few minutes before the food is being served...

I keep promising myself that one year I'll escape this madness somehow ...

And it isn't just old people either. I spoke to a guy I know yesterday, he's single and just about everyone he knows is in a relationship and won't be available to him over Christmas.
Without specifically saying that he is dreading Christmas, he volunteered to drive nearly a 100 miles each way to do voluntary work on our farm (Horse rescue charity) and said that he could easily stay there for a week or more.
