JollyJacks 52 for 2010 - Week 19 - Ingredients

#1 for me outstnding light trails and a really good perspective of speed.

Yep they work Jon... A good sense of speed in there... I take the green lines are traffic lights ? They've come out very nicely...

interesting take on this weeks theme Jon, works for me

Well done with these, Jon. Excellent idea and very effective. I prefer 1 and 3.

Jenny

do like #3! that would have to be my favourite!

Thank you very much for your positive remarks.

#1 (speed, that is) works best for me
It took me a moment to work out how you got the little satellite dish on the roadside so sharp
then the penny droped :bonk:

I always think these sort of shots look like something out of "Back to the Future" . Clever but not my cup of tea! But then it would be boring if we all liked the same thing

Thanks, glad the penny dropped

You're right about not having to like the same things, that would be boring

Nice speed shots Jon, I've never tried these so I might give them a go after seeing these ;)

Warp speed!!
Number one is my favourite, think its the bit of blue light that does it for me.

Thanks m8

Give a go Alby, i am going to have another go but this time clean my windscreen first, Thanks m8

Hi jon week so far
1 Love the B&W stair photo nice contrast
2 dont normally like the colour popped photos but seems to work
3 great second attempt at the chopped theme looks great on the black background frame will have to try framing so of my entries when I work out how to apply
4 Street sign works on all levels not much else to say simple but very effective
5 Car lights etc at night good capture it can be very hit and miss but again good
picture:clap: lets see what week 6 will be?

The speed pictures are good. I like the first one best- I think because the road is more separated and the light trails are straighter and more symmetrical

 from me.

OK probably not the most original idea for this week, but I like it and it's something I really want to try for myself at some point.
You've managed to get the camera at a really good angle for your set, and my only minor niggle is the SatNav mount(?) in the middle of the windscreen.

All of these have worked well, but for me No.3 is the pick of the set.

- I love the fact that the lines are slightly wavy in this one.
- Red and green traffic lights are adding a nice splash of colour.
- Somehow you've managed to get a brilliant light trail reflection in the rear view mirror. Something I've not seen in any of these moving car shots before!

Nice speed shots - I've tried these before and it's not easy to get the interior sharp but you've done well with these mate - well done :)

Thank you both very much

like no. 3.. as mentioned the added trails in the rear view mirror are great.. prefer the colours on this one

Love this idea for speed, it's something I keep meaning to have a go at...

I prefer number one for the clean lines but I do like the rear view mirror in three (you could always combine the two elements?)

The only improvements I'd make would be a clean windscreen (as you said), remove the satnav mount and I think I'd try cropping out some of the interior of the car but that's just me being very picky, I do like the shots as they are.

Hi Jon, I've just got round to visitng your thread for the first time - there's so many - but it was well worth it, and I love what you're doing. I even liked the original Chopped pressure reducing valve, because (as an ex-teacher) I can appreciate what a fantastic teaching aid it would be. :)

Week 5 Speed: #2 for me! I love the colours and the light trails in the mirror. This is something I've never tried, and it looks like fun - and it definitely says Speed.

Thankyou very much Michelle, Dave and Jean for your positive feedback

This weeks has been very hard to think off, i have taken a couple of shots and depending on how they go down with the members here i might have to choose another. Again maybe a little of the box thinking but i present to you

Nice idea Mate, I bet no one else would have thought of this. Bloody tough theme if you ask me.

I dont think we could get a tougher theme, but i am sure they will prove us wrong, Thanks Alby was a little worried about these pictures, they are not my best and was finding it hard to come up with something, maybe next time not try and do the box 3D.

you must be reading my mind, I've just had a load of those tiny led keyring lights delivered, and had exactly the same idea as your second photo!!

how did you get the alternating colours though ?

i just got 2 light wands off ebay from hongkong £0.99 each and they each give out them colours. Had got them for doing some light painting over in Portsmouth one Night

Brilliant take on theme well thought of and executed.

I am still struggling:thinking::thinking::bang:

I am determined not to use a joker :gag:

Catching up on the last couple of weeks, and I see a lighting theme presenting itself :)

I think I'm the only one that likes shot #2 of Speed. Light trails in a moving car are difficult, and you're right about the dirty windscreen. Did you have a prime lens on, or a zoom? Maybe a little less car internals might have worked better and made it more abstract. Depends what you were looking for though.

Anyway, I think your interpretation of present is very good. I've enjoyed light painting, but I think the multi-coloured effect works very well here. Maybe some details on your camera settings might help others try this out.

And it's bad enough doing letters backwards, let alone a 3d box. Nice work!

Ian.

glad I'm not the only one that found this week hard. I like the first of the present pictures best, clever take on the theme.

Speed - I like 1 for the cleaner lines and composition but I love the zizzy lines in no.3. It must have been a very bumpy road surface.

Present - the light painting is great fun and really well done, though I don't know how on earth you do it. The presentation quaich is nicely lit and something special - you should be very proud.

ooohh.. great light painting.. love the 'present' one, fabulous with the coloured lights.. :)

thats a lovely shot above too.. nicely shot, like the celtic design on the sides..

Speed...CLEAN YOUR WINDOW SCREEN FIRST :D

Great skills shown with the light painting.

10/10 for your backwards spelling, not so many for your 3d drawing abilities :)

Looks damned tricky and you've made a good job. Certainly something to keep trying.

Thanks everyone. The painting with light is a new thing and its hard to get it right, the spelling i must have done about 20 times. Its getting the spacing right and i kept doing the s back to front. As for the 3d box tried in twice and this was the best.

It is something i will keep trying like last night, did some light painting with a pair of walking boots, posted the results in the General photo section called Light Boots - Painting with light
