Joining as an Affilliate is easy - complete the form and pay up - you have to declare that you are a full-time professional.
Gaining the qualifications is not particularly difficult at Licentiate level and gets much harder as you try for the higher qualifications.
At affiliate level you get to go the the meetings (how valuable they are depends on how active the committe for your area is) and all the other benefits apart from the use of the logo and being listed in the directory.
The qualifications require about the same standard as the equivalent ones for the RPS.
When I did it it was useful to me - I got a bit more business on the back of it and enjoyed a lot of the meetings where I learned a lot. Not really convinced that it was worth the money and time required though.
When I was a member the Brentwood group was quite active and used to hold monthly meetings with some very good speakers. Don't know if that still the same though as it was quite a few years ago now.
