Just heard of his passing.

It was known he had been in ill health and had Alzeimers so a blessed relief.

A big part of both mine and many others early life as viewers of tge Blue Peter programme.

He was always game for the madcap adventures and cared for Shep the dog.

Another era remembered!

Ah, I knew he'd been ill for a long time but it's a shame when one of your childhood heroes passes on. I'll always associate him with doing the crazy stuff on BP and the never to be forgotten incident with the baby elephant. RIP Knoaksey.
 
Met him and Shep when I was a kid, lovely chap, although I seem to recall I was far more excited about meeting Shep at the time.

Somebody elsewhere said we should all get a washing up bottle and some sticky backed plastic and make a nuclear reactor in tribute :D
 
I would say probably the best, most natural and friendly of all the Blue Peter presenters.
 
Very sad, one of my childhood heroes too R.I.P. :(

And brave (or mad as a box of frogs). The first Blue Peter action man, inspiring kids off all ages (to break bones in my case!) :D

I will go with 80% brave and 20% box of frogs loony.
 
A different time & era..........very much the face of BP in my youth together with Valerie Singleton and Peter Purves.
