JoeC's 52 for 2011 - W4-Object

Hi Joe

what a great yet simple idea for Empty:thumbs:

This is my son's first baseman's mitt. Why do I keep getting a file too large error when I upload small files?

That is a clear image of what I'm sure will prove to be an important part of your son's history to be ;)

The sun has burnt that grass ;)

I wonder would the picture have been more interesting had you taken it from lower down?

Tina - The snow has just melted from my lawn (I have some snow left but most of it is gone) so my lawn is not green yet.

Thank you for the low angle tip - I am a pure amateur so any tips help.

Hiya Joe,

With week 14 I think you have missed the focus here (sorry) as the image looks a bit soft all round. Also the lighting seems a tad harsh.

Can't disagree with the subject being on theme though.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi, Joe. I like your object - looks lik a well worn glove/ball.

The focus does seem off - can you recall where you focused and did you manual focus?

The composition, with the ball in the upper right third is well thought out but the overall composition feels a bit tight to me. Try Tina's suggestion and maybe lies down and photograph from ground level getting some nice bokeh??

Cheers and I might have to get one of them gloves and ball for me and my daughter...

Some nice pics (i remember viewing the ducks one a while back).

empty sky - I was going to shoot that too, but with a lone cloud as a focal point... yours works well!

tower is leaning, which put me off as there is no counter balance on the other side.

moderation... ok get the idea. Doesn't work too well for me picture wise. However if you consider a re-shoot, a small pile beside a fire with one going in perhaps?

Baseball glove fits the object well, but you need to get that focus right :)
Also (as previously posted) a lower angle might be good. My suggestion would be a macro shot (if you have the lens) focused on the balls threads? Definately worth reshooting in various angles and lighting.
Might be good for a bit of 'light painting' late at night with a torch?

Oh and the Hard, nice for the theme. People posted about the corneres (I think it was) how about leaving a calculator to fill in any gaps..?

Gonna keep watching this to see your posts :) congrats!
