Jobo are back!

Incredible news! Thanks for the heads-up. Not going to be cheap though, judging from the price of the lift mentioned at nearly £300!

Hope you are sitting down

Ha, just read about this in the newsletter they send me... since i bought something from them once. You know, they could probably save a lot if they just used email. Good shop though.

Thankfully I don't need one of these. I am, however, waiting for the pricing on the new Plustek 120 scanner...

Got all excited and then deflated instantly at sight of those prices.

How much can it actually be costing them to manufacture. The premium one can charge when you for all intents and purposes have no competition.

It's pointless - the people who have that much money to spend on processing would be looking at high end FF gear, or digital backs for their medium format cameras. The spares are also incredibly expensive - 100 USD for the 2 reel normal tank. I mean they are well engineered pieces of kit, but at the end of the day it's a large bit of moulded plastic!

In terms of whats actually occurring just to make sure I get what it is you re paying for..

1) a rotary drum system - drum rotating at constant speed - changing direction at regular intervals.
2) heated water accurate to a degree which then heats bottles containing your chems
3) a lift to drain the chemicals from the drum between each step

query 4) on some models the chemicals auto mix?

I was stood up but nowt much surprises me!

Perhaps I'm becoming unrealistic as I become older with what I consider greedy prices for photography kit:shrug: .....I'm not unrealistic but £2000 :gag:

Seems to me it's a "big buck" opportunity with the resurgence of film and lack of labs!

I have a cpp2 that has been in storage for a while. Just waiting for the opportunity to use again

Brian

Threw one of those out a couple of years ago. Last time it was used for Cibachrome (Remember that)
Afriend on his way to the dump with a Durst M800 and a CPE2 stopped by the other week for a chat. I asked for the CPE 2 seems to work OK, drum goes round and water heats up. Knowing nothing about it must check on web. Can it do paper and film ?

Indeed I remember Cibachrome, I'm using it for scrap writing paper now...but for the CPE 2 I cant remember the details it was so long ago, but this equipment is usually for colour use and all you need is a couple of trays for B/W prints.
For developing colour or B/W negs all you need is a bowl of water at the required temp containing chemicals and dev tank...jeez £2000 to do the same thing and digital users would laugh at the cost of using film esp adding a £1000 scanner to the bill.

Looks pretty cool that Brian,

Alternatively set the mrs up with a hand operated winding mechanism....would keep her occupied if nowt else!:D

 The problem with Paterson was:- they made things not for quality but cheapness and was surprised the motor lasted for years (even with my mains converter supply instead of using batteries), but IIRC they did supply a handle for turning the drum manually.
But a few years ago, I decide I was never going to do colour prints again and threw it all away accept for cups and bottles.
BTW I put the plastic bath\container on a hot plate which kept the temp up to 38 c.
