Hi,
I want to start some macro photography of jewellery, I ave a canon 5d, 100 macro lens, but what lighting. I need.
Thanks

Great read

Thanks Alistair. It's basic and no frills and not absolute by a long way but it's designed to get real beginners over the first hurdle which is getting a reasonably good image out of their new DSLR. Once they've managed that they normally feel encouraged enough to continue the hobby and delve further.

jewellery is paaaaiiiinnnnnfullll to get right, we have never really mastered it.

Watches and jewellery are different. Flat light cube or softbox lighting suits watches and their flat surfaces, but to make jewellery sparkle you need several small point light sources, like the ceiling spot lights they always have in jewellery shops. Not easy to do really well.
