No
Just a quicky that my local Jessops are doing a 3 for 2 on all film. Got a pile of 120 for just over £3 a roll which didnt seem too bad.

Interesting - what sort of film stock did your local one have? And what are the expiry dates like?

a mix of kodak (35mm) and illford (120)

All expiry dates between 2014 and 2015

Cheers for the heads-up. I'll have to check if my local stocks film. I've a feeling they don't any more :(

No mention of this in Edinburgh Fort Kinnaird when I was in there today. No film on display but heaps under the counter...

Ooh d'you kno how long this 3 for 2 is on for? I'm buying film on friday. Film is always kept behind the photo printing counter in Jessops stores, just ask & they usually let you rummage in a box.

TBH i dont know, if its not country wide and just a local store thing then thats that. My store had it in a dark corner at the back on a little shelf so they were hardly pushing the promotion.

Haha awh alright fair enough. I'll pop into the Kingston store & ask, I used to work in there. I'll buy a couple of rolls anyway but it'd be decent if I can get my paws on a 3 for 2 offer :}

I got a surprise, three for two on Acros confirmed :D

Ooh, just the film I'm looking to buy! I hope the Kingston store are offering this.

Just been into the Kingston store & can confirm they're all still doing the 3 for 2 offer, I just came out with six rolls of Ilford varieties & Acros 100!

phew! im glad for that :)

I picked up another load today and noticed that all the fuji films were there too, velvia 35mm at £10 a roll normally will probably be a bit of a bargain!

Last year I went into my local Jessops (Sunderland) I just got sneered at when asking for slide film. "Nobody uses it any more" came the answer.

I love a bargain but I'm not inclined to darken their doors again.

Jessops can be a bit hit and miss and the staff can vary a lot, I use a couple of branches in London, Greenford and Strutton Ground and the staff I've dealt with in both have been excellent on the other hand other branches have left a lot to be desired, so I always take each branch on their own merits.

Fair comment. I won't write them off entirely!

I worked in Jessops for four months last Summer & honestly, the staff are extremely hit & miss. I was always discussing film practices with customers during those days. Favourite part of my job. I recieved a variety of decent feedback throughout however there were many members of staff that just weren't knowledgable in the slightest but blagged amazing sales.

To call themselves the #1 photographic store is complete &!?@/. tho as they don't actually have access to most traditional photographic consumables & equipment. I definitely don't miss working there.

But who is their competition? Jacobs? Hardly the same presence or reach... there is no other photographic-slanted retailer that has Jessops' presence (and one might therefore surmise turnover).

@hunnymonster I suppose..
You've only quoted part of my post, that wasn't what I intended to get across, only that the value in the staff differs from store to store. I'd much prefer an AG Photographic store in my high street than a Jessops tho! Wishful thinking eh :}

I'd certainly rather have a proper photographic store in mine with polite and knowledgeable staff any day... but I'm more likely to be the next archbishop of Canterbury. The point is that by virtue of their near monopoly, Jessops are probably the biggest in terms of turnover, but if you were to use another metric (say) knowledgeable staff then I suspect as photographic retailers go they would probably drop from number 1 but still they have no real national competition (which sucks)

I'd sooner give up photography alltogether :gag:

True :D Dales photographic in Leeds will have to do, even though they don't make you feel welcome if you don't have a hasselblad/Leica/massive bank account :/

Best move to Birmingham then :D

Whhhhhhhat, AG Photographic actually have a store O.o Think I need to make a visit, do they stock as much as they have online? Is that a stupid question? Hahaha.

According to their website:

"It is also possible to walk to our premises from the centre of Birmingham, and a route along the canal is recommended."

So there you go - a combined trip to AG and photo-op :)

The website is operated out of that shop so they will have everything and possibly more in store, they are currently building a massive darkroom as well :thumbs:

I could only grab one D: Kingston store only had the one in stock so grabbed my fallback Ilford HP5+ & a couple of rolls of Ilford XP2 just cause I've seen some beautiful tonal ranges in negatives shot with this & am curious to find it myself :}

Just a note, that the Reading Store isn't doing this :( i checked!
