Not really sure where this should be so please move as necessary .
Today I had a 2 hour one to one session in jessops and have come out with the knowledge to use the camera off auto :) Apperture iso and shutter speed were all covered and the whys and wherefores explained. We also covered manual which I finally get and touched on white balance,also the buttons switches and dials were all explained , so tomorrow my lovely camera will be leaving the auto mode that it may well have been left on if I hadn't done this session.
If you have no idea what you are doing with the camera off auto mode it is well worth doing :)
 
It's great when you have that "Eurika!" moment. When you 'just get it' and it all falls into place. Congrats!!!

Mine felt sweet as I sort of messed and then I got it!
 
I'd just like to add. I was in my local Jessops and had a really nice chat with them, well specifically John. It makes a change to be able to go in and talk to someone who knows about cameras and photography. It all looks positive for them :-)
 
I must have been in a photography coma. I thought Jessops was only open online?

Great news to hear bobsbabe. I use Aperture Priority pretty much all the time when I'm out n about and manual in the studio. You also get raw files to play with too. Happy togging :)

I believe they have 28 stores that have reopened :) ours are run by the best of the original staff from the 2 stores that we used to have in town.
 
We still have one of the two open in shrewsbury, just wish they would carry a better range of more expensive body's and lenses

That'll be the one I was in :)

there was a man in when i was in who had spent 5k on nikon camera stuff and was being shown how to use it !!

Learning to use the histogram helped me a hell of a lot. I just watched loads of Youtube videos.

Had a good hour in there today playing with bodys and lenses.

So so tempted to order a 5d mk3 and 24-105

So what? If he wants to spend £5 K on gear, and doesn't know how to use it yet, why would it matter to anyone else?
 
I think it was a little sarcastic humour in that many people believe that buying a good camera instantly makes you a photographer.

I havent been into a jessops recently but its good that they are back properly so to speak!
