I know it is popular to knock Jessops but I've had excellent service from them so thought I would post to add balance.

Decided on Friday I wanted a 50D (Grendel's fault! Oh, and CT isn't without blame either ;))

Jessops had it at only £11 more than the cheapest on camera price buster (which was WHE who I prefer to ignore) and had it in stock.

Good price, they held it for me until I could pop in and I had the camera before my watervole shoot the next morning.

Thinking back of the last 6 new SLR bodies bought between Sue and me, we've got 4 from Jessops as the price was very competitive and the service was excellent.
 
Nice to hear about the flip side of the coin.
 
Three of my four DSLRs came from Jessops, based on having a very competitive price, as did my G10. The other DSLR came from Hong Kong.

It is rare for me to find Jessops offering the best VFM, but when I do I am more than happy to put business their way. However, I never go in there for advice, or to browse around, only to pick up my "collect in store" orders or return something I am unhappy with.

Bought my 300mm f4 and 70-200mm f2.8 from Jessops. Must admit was using a 10% off voucher for Jessops (unfortunately long gone), plus canon rebate vouchers, managed to get shedloads off and easily beat the internet prices at the time, got a good deal.

Very happy with the service, the 70-200mm turned up damaged (probably by canon), and they replace it straight away no problems (pick it up from home).

They are offering better deals than they did, but I think they are struggling (not going to stock sigma lenses any more) and are in the last throws of the dice.
 
I've bought both by bodies from them and been very pleased with the service I received, the only thing I have found, which is more of a frustration, is there are some branches that are more knowledgable and helpfull - seems to be the smaller shops in my case - so I just return there :clap:
 
I agree it depends on the store. Cambridge have always been pretty good to us. Not competitive on lenses but very close to web prices on the camera bodies...
 
I agree too, always had great service at the moorgate store, but popped in yesterday and found that 6 staff have left in the last week!
