On thursday I was looking online for an eyecup for my camera and found a genuine nikon one at Jessops for £5.99 with delivery at £1.99 standard, £2.99 for another option and then to have it delivered by City link today (bank hol Monday) £5.99 so in order to get it as fast as possible to stop my glasses being scratched we went for the guaranteed today option.....It never turned up yet the website has now removed this postage option.....thinks jessops have done me over:thumbsdown:

Email has been sent asking for explanation and refund so probably never get a reply

The ad stated bank hol monday delivery special

EDIT... the 299 option is actually 3.99 for special delivery

It's quite simple, they offered it, they should have delivered. I never send emails in this situation, I always call and be polite but very firm (all the while trying to remember that it's not the dude on the phone's fault!)

Edit: Should also say that it may not be Jessops' fault. It could well be the carriers have stitched Jessops up. Of course Jeeops should still be your first port of call though.

Poor Jessops getting the blame again

I'm not sure that I'd be bothered that it *may* not be Jessops fault. It was a service they offered, the OP paid a premium for the service. It may not be enough to request a hanging, but I'd certainly explain the issue to Jessops and expect them to return my postage in full.

Jessops were the ones who advertised the special delivery and took the money and as far as I am aware they are the ones to blame as really I dont think city link work bank hols:shrug:

If City Link are involved I'd put money on it being their fault, they have to be one of the most inept companies around. I've got to the point of making it part of my delivery instructions when ordering stuff to cancel the order if CL are to be the couriers...

I don't buy from companies that use *****ty Link - they offer a crap service where I am.

Agree with the above, city link are a total crock of ******, they where supposed to deliver a bag to me when we had that bit of snow in January, the depot is 1.5 miles from my place, i ended up having to go and pick it up myself as they refused to deliver in the snow, i would never knowingly use them myself

You paid extra to have it delivered on bank holiday Monday despite believing they do not work bank holidays and you are disappointed it did not arrive.

The point is they advertised this as a special so one should asume they have put this special delivery in place after all the price is ver high when an ordinary envelope and stamp would have got it here by tuesday so yes jessops are to blame for advertising this in the first place

I agree with the above, Jessops are the ones you paid and had contact with - they should give you a refund. If it's not their fault they can chase matters up with the courier and/or get a refund of their own. But you paid Jessops for a service you never got - you are most definitely entitled to a refund.

I dont want to start a rant about jessops as they are a decent company but something this size would easily fit in a standard envelope to be posted friday first class and arrive by saturday at a cost of envelope and stamp about 50p but to mislead us into thinking extra special delivery on bank hol monday for £5.99 seems a bit harsh when it doesnt arrive

one thing is for sure I wont be buying from Jessops anymore will stick with camerabox

Jessops error. City Link don't deliver on bank holidays - in fact, none of the home delivery couriers do.

Most likely their site didn't account for the bank holiday. You'll get it tomorrow but I'd certainly say you're within your rights to complain.

To be fair, it's a very easy mistake to make.

Thats what we thought too but on thursday night the website said for £5.99 a special delivery by Citylink had been set up for bank holiday monday deliveries which has now dissapeared but we do have this in our email invoice

When Citylink rarely get deliveries right for other companies in the (parent) Rentokil Initial group you can hardly be surprised when they get it wrong elsewhere so often! ;)

I think I have worked out what the 6 quid is for........................................

Packaging overkill

EDIT just had an apology from jessops stating they dont deliver on bank hols and sorry for any inconvienience caused by the misworded ad so I dont think in this economic climate that I will push for a refund as its only £6 so I will let this one rest

Glad that it turned up eventually DM
It really depends on how ****ed off you are with them
This economic climate thing works both ways it has left you £4 out of pocket
I think that would have a go politely as "possible" (:D) its only gonna cost an email
or phone call

i would have thought that it was obvious it wasnt going to turn up when it had City Link on the ad.

Funny that nearly everyone says this but it seems CL have a decent reputation round here as its TNT who dont deliver but at least it got here a day later than stated but its here ....hmm maybe apoll on couriers maybe needed:lol:

TNT and City Link have the same business model. Deliver at some point, and make sure iten damaged

+1

They suck.

After all this I promptly forgot about CL delivering for Jessops and purchased a mail order item off their website :bang:

They couldn't find the house the last time - despite the number being in big numbers and there only being a handful of houses on the street :shake:

Mind you Strathclyde's finest don't seem to be able to count or read either as they couldn't find it last week as well

I agree with TNT as we once sent a perfect Novation synth away with them special next day jobbie ...what a mistake, firstly they forgot to pick it up by ten and came at 7.30 pm (for next day:thinking:) then it arrived 2 days late and broken but the new owner wasnt sore at us as itt was clearly very well packaged but all the packaging was severely damaged so he put in a claim and won:thumbs:

My best one was with Fedex though, urgent parcel coming from Paris to Glasgow overnight - they sent it to Southampton, when I complained they said they could get it back to London for the next morning,if I wanted to nip down to the depot and pick it up.....:bonk:

Most delivery companies are the same now, a few years back the customer was king, I had a sub contract delivery business covering for Lynx, It was nothing out of the ordinary to be asked if we could re deliver a package some 3/400 miles away, because it had been overlooked or delivered to the wrong address, one occasion a small jiffy bag was delivered to Leicester, "could we take it to Invergordon as the customer had been promised it", next morning the same thing happened, I took the second one up, I got talking to the customer in Invergordon, and he told me it was a throttle cable for is mower, but Lynx and Honda had promised next day delivery, sadly those days are gone, so as the money...

The reasons are quite simple as to why customer service is no longer there in a lot of cases.

The vast majority of consumers want goods at the cheapest possible price.

The suppliers still need to make a profit, so selling goods cheap to satisfy the end user means that cost cutting has to be achieved elsewhere.

The carriers are getting screwed to the floor on the prices they charge. The suppliers demand a cheap carriage service yet do not want to pay for a quality service.Yet diesel creeps up ,anyone noticed that? 50% operating costs.

So in effect,we all get the service that we pay for.Something that togs are quick enough to state in any wedding thread on here.........;)

Fedex are an American company. So as long as the package ended up in Europe they would have been happy. Glasgow and Southampton are 'same state' distances apart so they would have thought they did well!!!
