Yes
if this drivel from TBWAManchester is the best they can come up with....

Can anyone guess what the advert is meant to be saying?

Buy your camera from us else all of your photo's will be of a rodent and your friends will be out of focus in the background?

I think it is quite a clever advertising move as that particular photo had had a lot of press coverage over the last week.

I recognise the photo but not sure why the slogan 'If only they'd gone to Jessops' has any relevance. But I'm a bit thick.

Yes it has had a lot of coverage, however.....

I can't see the relevance either, perhaps it's a play on the "should have gone to Specsavers" strapline

'If only they'd gone to Jessops' ... they would've been ripped off! LOL

Jessops are actually using that image in official advertising campaigns? Strange. I wonder how much the couple got for the image then.

I bet they weren't paid very much, maybe 20 free prints or something.
Apparently Jessops were only recently trying to get their staff to contribute images for advertising purposes which a] would not be paid for and b] the full copyright/reproduction rights had to be handed over too. I doubt if they had any takers, unless the couple in this picture have fallen on hard times and are now in the employment of 'the Braunstone Frith Group', whoever they are?

Their advertising is working, you made a thread about it on a photography forum ;)

"if only they'd gone to jessops" then they would have paid such inflated prices for just about everything, they wouldn't have had any money left to go on holiday, then their picture wouldn't have been spoilt.

I get it now.

There's a difference between smart advertising that gets you positive reaction and stupid advertising that makes people mock you. If you can't send a clear message through your advertising...
