Just been on the Jessops website, they are offering

Free collection in store on the 24th

:thinking::cuckoo:

All I can think is that times are so hard they don't know what to say to make a sale

Oh no, not yet another Jessops bashing thread:bang:

If they didn't state it was free there would be people who would email them to ask if there was a charge.

I was slightly miffed to find that when I first rented a CO2 bottle from BOC that they charged a fee for collection...

True - it was a bit less than the delivery fee, but still!

I'd better remember that the next time I go to Tesco, call to see if Collecting my shopping in store is free

do you routinely buy your shopping from tesco online then go to the shop to collect it ?

Isn't it funny how a simple post pointing out a heading can be blown out of all proportion amazing :|

Ironically, that's a service that they've just announced. I have no idea if there is a fee for doing so, I'd imagine there may be (they have to pay the people to do your shopping still, after all).

I supose there must be a demand for it or they wouldnt be offering it , but personally for me the whole point of tesco online is the delivery service.

jessops is a bit different because we are usually talking higher value items , and it might be preferable to buy at web price but be able to pick it up rather than having fed ex chuck it over your fence

I'd imagine the draw is that you can nip into the shop on your way home and all the shopping is there at the front desk for you to collect (assuming that's how it works). It saves you trudging round the shop finding what you want and then queueing at a till to pay, and it saves you having to arrange delivery at a certain time and make sure you're in to receive it.

You can order online and it will be delivered to your local store for collection-if your local store do not have one in stock.

I can't understand why Tesco will be doing this.... but thinking about it I have an idea.

You shop online and have it delivered, and thats all you buy.
You shop online and go to pick it up, but while I'm here I just add this that and the other.

Shops love those impulse purchases :D

Actually, the tesco stores that are offering it have totally separate pick up points, usually away from the main store [hence not all are offering the service yet] so generally speaking they dont get the impulse buys they would if you were in store. In the case of my nearest branch, its a like a 'drive-thru' shed in the car park, complete with car-port so you don't get wet and a nice man to load the bags from the cool grocery storage and freezer storage within the shed

That's intresting Yvonne, is there any charge for this, as I'm convinved that online shopping could be a money saver for the the reason I said before. Just need Aldi and Lidl to do it now

I beleive they are doing it free until xmas, possibly the new year, but what they will charge after that I really dont know. I used once a couple of weeks ago when they had no delivery slots for about 4 or 5 days, so did the click and collect for the following day. It was totally easy, and had the advantage of being able to collect while I knew I would be out and in the area. On balance I prefer delivery, but its a less stressful alternative to having to traipse round the store.

John lewis also do a similar thing, you can get it sent to your local waitrose. You can know also go to ikea with a list and pay £15 and they will pick your order for you whole you are in their restaurant.
