Yes
I went to jessops at Wakefield today to buy my sigma 10-20 and they have on website 10% off all sigma lens' which makes it cheaper than warehouse express at the moment [by about £1]
So wakefield said they couldnt honor the discount as it was not on their intranet, so for the sake of 10% discount they lost out on a £300 sale [or near enough].
I have come home - rang meadowhall - checked that they have it in stock, asked if they would honor the discount they said "Of Course"

So....they are getting my sale instead!!! :D

Now the question is - what to photograph with it

had siimilar when i purchased mine did a n order on line reserved did the discoutn thingy, rang the shop and ensured i would get it at 274 as per internet. agreed

went to shop that is 304 please, no 274 oh we cant do that, so asked for person i spoke to conffronted withthe phone call and specifics she agreed that had been asked and got at the 274.

so doesnt surprise i would say pay and then collect no argument then.

once once told i couldnt match price and then have interest free credit as it was against the law, when ask for specifics of law and sections reply was?.................................................................

Jessops law, my response was stick it up your fu................................................. needles to say 900 pounds went to another supplier....

Jessops, Idiots?

Huh, that would suggest some sort of improvement but I have seen no evidence to support it.

why didn't you just order it on-line then tick the collect from store option, the website gives you a choice of stores to collect it from depending which have stock

Sorry, but you obviously didn't do a collect at store.
When you do a collect at store, we get a notification on our system, print out the receipt, and then collect the items. When the customer comes to collect it, we run that receipt which has the EXACT values that were given at the collect at store.

As far as the price match goes, we don't tend to price match the prices of our own website, but it is entirely down to the manager's discretion as to whether we do or not.

wasnt matching your price was another shop price, agreed to match when asked for interest free credit then different story"

but suppose you need to make a profit.

so went elsewhere for the price was 300 pound different at the time.

theres also a very good jessops store at doncaster dellipher, its a lot bigger than the meadowhall one too and carries tons more stock.i got my sigma 100-300 mm f4 from there and was very impressed with the shop.

Now the question is - what to photograph with it [/QUOTE]

I'd suggest a nice wide angle shot of jessops, wakefied!

So how much was it in the end?

£296.99 but if your lucky enough to shoot canon its £20 cheaper. So im considering writing to Jessops H/O and telling them they're ass.....thingies and its unfair

Oh and three new pair of shoes.

And a bite to eat for Mum and I

Found the lens on the website at 304.99 ? Where's the 10% off?

Congrats on the lens, you'll love it
However reading the thread just makes me ask the question: Why did you not buy from Kerso? - I got mine months ago for £270, purchase a hell of a lot simpler as well.

Because 1. I had the cash or it was paying by credit card [as i had the cash]
2. I didnt want it posting I would have rather collected it.
3. I LIKE someone to shout at if it all goes wrong.
4. it wasnt technically my money, it was a gift from my grandparents.
5. Because I don trust royal mail etc.
6. because i ordered offline [not kerso] and the last thing i ordered took well over a week to arrive.

And I needed to go there to buy some new shoes anway :D

Yes, that does all make sense, especially the shoes :D

I thought when you did collect at store you got a receipt to take and present that had the prices on it? Have never done Jessops version, but Comet, PCWorld etc use this method.

I have used jessops collect@store option quite a few times and never have a problem, I print out the page with the details and take it in, never had to use it mind you.

Just give em your name at the counter and they nip out the back and get it. job jobbed :)

oh, wakefield that explains it, the staff must have been boozing all day on the westgate run!

Aha! Thanks for that link. It didnt show up anywhere else.

Now, to fight my inner conscience and not buy it.

Well your inner conscience should rest peacefully - I think it ran out at midnight!!

I used to collect at store option when getting my Sigma 24-70 from Jessops at Stockport. Handed printout over, lad went into storeroom and brought out my lens with copy of receipt stuck to it. Got that for about £250 where WE where asking £277 & postage.

Job done

LOL Really?
I've decided to hold off buying it now anyway. I can't really justify it, as much as I'd like one (and I'm looking desperately around the room for things to sell to justify it :D).

I've decided to save instead.

My biggest frustration with Jessops (Uxbridge), other than the staff not being particularly helpful, is that they never have anything in stock.

Remote release cable for my 350D, second quick release plate for my Manfotto, Canon off camera flash cable, lens hood for the kit lens......

OK, if you want a camera & body, and "non L" lenses they're fine.....

I'd rather go into their store in Oxford Street or one of the independents up the Tottenham Court Road.

Steve

Just to add some Yin to the Yang (or the other way?!) I've received some great advice from 2 of the Jessops near to me. It depends on the assistant but I always make sure I talk to the good ones. Have received some good advice from the start and the stock seems OK.

There is a 3rd Jessops also quite close to me which isn't so good.

So my advice - don't let this thread put off trying them. If you get good advice and service go back. If you don't steer clear and try another ...
