Yes
I took my Sigma 17-70 back to Jessops today as I was not happy as it tested back focusing I took in my test photos and they agreed with me but they did not have one in stock to replace and said it was discontinued now.
I said oh buy you and they said no sigma have FUNNY I thought as its still on their web site.
I read of someone else saying something like this and adding they are going over to Tamron only.
I think it bad to give out statements like this.
Oh they are getting one in from another shop to replace mine.

If it's coming up on Jessops' system as discontinued then it will have been - the manufacturers will sometimes leave a product listed until the shops have cleared their shelves - the Nikon D40 was listed on their site for quite a while after both Jessops and John Lewis told me it was discontinued....

If a retailer has decided to stop selling it then they call it discontinued.

Might still be for sale elsewhere though.

aint they committing false advertising, legally they are selling it and so they should be providing it.

No, because they aren't advertising it - not in Canon-fit anyway. They still list it in Nikon, Minolta and Pentax mounts, but special order only.

i wonder if they owe Sigma money and cant get supplied ?

just a wild guess

More likely Sigma just won't give them any credit....

It looks as if they aren't stocking any Sigma now. Out of 162 Sigma products listed on their website, they only have 10 in stock, and those look like leftovers....

thats what i meant , probably cant get credit because they owe them money or they're too much of a risk

I certainly hope thats not the case though

They're too much of a risk, the suppliers can't get insurance against not getting paid, so they won't give them stock without getting the cash first :shake:

Sounds like Sigma either know something we dont and have stopped using Jessops or as already said they are owed money

Sounds to me more like a rival supplier, DigitalDepot, has 'implied something' but won't give details and then you've all let your imagination run riot. I'm no fan of Jessops but ...

Inclined to agree, and also a bit rich from a shop who give a worst service than jessops

Yup, I tend to agree too and is poor form of Digital Depot to post such comments. You may have thought it would, but it hasn't done your rep any good matey.

Hi Guys,

im sorry if my comments caused offence, i just made an enquiry about the lens to see if i could help with the original poster.

We may be a rival to Jessops but it would be terrible thing to see them gone from the high street.

Jessops' supply problems are well documented, they have admitted themselves in the press that their current financial situation has caused problems for them in obtaining credit from suppliers.....

This is the reason Jessops no longer stock Pentax as they were refused the amount of credit they need to stock a decent selection of the brand. Ever since then people have been reading other things into it such as Pentax are going under soon. Wonder if they will now say the same about SIgma :suspect:
