Im going to buy a new 70-200 F4 canon lens at the weekend and the warranty for 3 years is £39 is it worth the bother ? i know the L lenese are the best anyway but i feel that since accidental damage is covered it may be the best £40 i ever spend if the worst was to happen ? ! whats your thoughts ?

Albeit not wortked for them for nearly 5 years now but if its still underwritten by Domestic and General and has no excess then deifnitley. The piece of mind that £40 quid gives is excellent and like you say if you dropped it !.

But check the excess position on the policy first.

very true... cannot find any details actually on there website on that... i do also have the kit insured with someone else but for £39 it seems good to be able to walk in to jessops and say ' ive broken it give me a new one' does L glass ever go wrong though ? though actualy from the t+c's it seems that

Your equipment must not have been lost, stolen, misused, neglected, poorly installed,
subject to malicious damage, or damage caused by fire, explosion, floods, lightning,
storms, frost or other bad weather conditions, rust, corrosion or water

so if you drop it in the sea... or drop it full stop you may say that was 'neglect' hum...

I had the warranty with them on my Canon 40D which I bought from them. Awful service when my camera went wrong (shutter broke) within the years warranty. They sent it away, and I then spent 10 weeks chasing my camera every other day being told it was fixed and on the way back to me - for ten weeks.
In the end I finally got through to someone in authority who told me they were awaiting parts, had broken other bits whilst trying to repair it etc. I ended up after 12 weeks without the camera getting jessops vouchers for replacement.
However - by that time the 50D had come out and they came me vouchers worth what the 40D had last been sold at but of course there were none available at any Jessops store that was guaranteed a sealed box and new. The only option I was given was to pay the extra in cash to get a 50D or "sir could get a 1000D and a cheap lens" !

That and passing off used kit as new is why I'll never use Jessops again.

Well my camera and other lens is insuraned with Glover & Howe , im prob best off spending the money on adding the lens to that policy...

hum was showing £39 this morning - now showing £54 ! whats going on....

I wouldn't bother with it. I've only used Jessops twice and had nothing but trouble with them. They sent my camera away for repair and it took weeks to get it back.
If you've already got insurance on your gear or have a decent home contents policy you shouldn't need this Jessops crap anyway.

Personaly then, I wouldn't opt for it if you already have it insured else where - depending on what inurance you have, why not see if you can increase it to include accidental cover and how much ?

(I also seem to remember reading if you do use the warrenty claim, it's a one use only - not sure if I'm remembering correctly though)
