The number of dissapointed with Jessops threads seems to be dropping which is superb as yet again I've had another good experience through the chain.

After much searching I ordered a Manfrotto 055XPROB & 410 Head on Monday night, the cost £1.10 over the cheapest I could find online with delivery to the store this Wednesday.

Early this afternoon I had one missed call and one voicemail from Jessops Basingstoke saying the item had come into stock early if I wanted to take delivery.

So delivery quicker than agreed, prompt and courteous telephone reminders and product as described...

As I am extremely impatient I was extremely happy and another thumbs up to Jessops Basingstoke.

Enjoy :naughty:

Good to see they are keeping it up :D

I am looking at spending £5-7k on gear shortly, and Jessops seem to offer some of the best prices. I need to pop in to the shop once I finalise the list and then we'll see how good the staff are :)

As with most chains there are some better than others so visit a few if the first doesn't help...

Basingstoke have never let me down yet, fingers crossed.

The new Nottingham branch is also very good, well im my opinion.
I got my first ever DSLR from them, spoke to the lady and was cheeky enough to ask for some special christmas discount, i basically got £100 off with some freebies.

had 3 orders from them in the past month, two are good one is still on back order (with another 2 weeks until the 28 days are up) praise so far from me

With an order of that value you would be well advised to order through a cash back website. Both Quidco and TopCashBack are offering 4% cash back on online orders at Jessops. That could be a couple of hundred quid or more back in your pocket. You may also find some discount codes you can use too. I always buy from Jessops when the price is right, and with cash back it quite often is. Most of my camera bodies have come from Jessops. Links in my sig.

I picked up a Cam Case 50 today from Jessops at the greatly reduced price of 12 quid
(very nice hardcase for the price, foam was worth that much)

Ordered it over the weekend and should have collected it by yesterday, but plans went awry

Very polite cheerful young lady in the Cambridge branch went and searched for it even though the shop was very busy, couldn't have been more helpful especially as I was a day late

Definite thumbs up from me

so far with my order they have been great.
went to buy a d700 and 24-70 lens neither of which were instock for delivery or store collection at my local store.
phoned them this morning and there bringing stock from another store for me to collect thursday onwards,i asked for friday, but they said they would have them for me thursday if i wanted.

advised me that the prices might increase slightly after jan the 12th,so if i had time i should pop into my local store and pay before then.

though i thought with spending that amount of money they would maby frow in a memory card or something but nothing.

There isn't enough money to be made in selling the boxes alone, so free memory cards are generally a no-no, unless they have some clearance stock to shift quickly!

I had one cheeky git buying a TV the other day, a half price Samsung 40" LED. He was only buying the TV, and he asked if I could do anything on the price. Now, I know that if you don't ask you don't get, but when the TV used to be £1,249 and had been reduced to £624, he was rather taking the p***. I just said "no, what were you wanting to buy it for?", to which he said "well as it's a pre-VAT increase sale, I was hoping you could knock another 15% off". I lol'd.

Some people just take the ****** it's already half price n they want more I don't care bout the don't ask don't get it's a damn good saving in the first place n the cheek of asking is just hilarious lol

i understand that, but when spending £3000 in one go they might have offered more than free prints that you get when you buy anything.
its mainly my wife that gets bothered, shes chinese, and there it would have cost less and would have got quite a bit off or free.

Thanks for the tip! That quidco thing will save me £40 when I get my d7000! I'm not quite sure what it is yet, I assume nothing dodgey?

I've been using Quidco for about five years, but a little over a year ago I joined TopCashBack and use them almost exclusively for my cash back shopping. Both are sound. They won't steal your cash or spam you.

A tiny negative with Quidco is that they charge £5 per annum membership, but you never have to lay out cash up front as they take the fees from your cash back savings. Membership of TopCashBack is completely free. Usually their cash back values are equal, but sometimes one has a better deal than the other so I always check both. That's the only reason I keep my Quidco account alive. It's not hard to recoup the £5 with a bonzer cash back purchase on insurance, a phone contract or something like that.

Quidco earnings to date....

:agree:

I got £180 cashback on my d3s - when jessops online were the cheapest on CPB for it anyway :)

I went into Jessops in Loughborough on the 4th and asked them to order in a Manfrotto 410 tripod head. They said it would be about 2 weeks before they got it in store. Popped in today to see if they had an update and they'd still not received stock from Manfrotto. The girl in the shop (almost) cheerfully told me that it should be with them in a couple of days, her computer said the 12th. She was marginally less cheery when I pointed out the 12th was yesterday:lol:

It's not the staff's fault but I'm guessing Jessops still having problems getting credit from their suppliers, the Sony cabinet had a grand total of four items in it and the Canon and Nikon cabinets were only marginally better stocked.

They also seem to be giving up more and more of their floor space to printing machines. I don't think it'll be long until they turn into a glorified Snappy Snaps.
