Just picked out the following from hotUKdeals.com:

"On Wednesday Jessops are having a "10% OFF everything" for three hours starting at 12pm. Use the code 3HOURS for the 10% discount. I just rang their helpline and its only for online orders. Doesn't apply to phone orders or for Interest free credit etc.. "

using this, and by using quidco cashback for an extra 3% (pre VAT) + canon cashback, there are some seriously cheap prices out there

I make a 40D body available for £619 after all the discounts and cashback, and thats assuming you cant stack this 10% code with the current WEBEX24 code.

i'm guessing they mean in the afternoon, as otherwise it would (should!) be 12am.

Cool. Don't think you can stack discount codes though, well not when I tried it some months back.

I guessed you probably couldnt, but worth a try anyway! Still, the 10% makes for some cheap DSLRs assuming its valid on these.

i've always found jessops to be quite expensive (compared to warehouse express)

Sometimes with discounts applied they are very competitive. Plus you can pick up from store and save on the delivery and have piece of mind with face-to-face contact. When I bought my DSLR it was not much more expensive than the cheapest on the web, then I had it replaced because of a hot pixel, they forgot to take out the battery in the replacement so I got a free one

Can't see anything on their website yet. It's a cracking deal IF it applies to SLR's, as I seem to remember that they are normally excluded.

Currently seem to have £35 pounds off with voucher code Autumn35 http://www.jessops.com/services/onl...http://www.jessops.com/services/onlineoffers/

This would bring the price of an EOS 40D down to £713.90 excluding cashbck, which according to www.camerapricebuster.co.uk would make the current best price.

Anyone have any definite info if the 10% deal relates to slrs pls. If it does I'm on board

Regards
Andrew

The AUTUMN35 code doesnt work with DSLRs according to Jessops.

Sorry, nothing definative on whether the 10% will include DSLRs or not, but I'll let you know come 12pm tomorrow ;)

From the web site (Autumn35)
But I sure hope the -10% one works

1) This offer is only available at Jessops.com and is not available in any of our stores.
2) These vouchers cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, voucher or e-voucher.
3) *This offer excludes all Digital SLRs, Sat Nav's, Tv's & Gift Vouchers.

Doh didn't read the small print but this suggests to me that SLR's will also be excluded but if anyone else knows differently

Andrew

Love to know if this comes off as I'm about to buy a D200 - 80 squids off sounds like a veritable bargain.

Bet they don't allow it on D-SLRs though :(

just phoned Jessops mail order. they seemed to think it wouldnt apply to DSLRs :(

Mmmm 10% off eh? Great that only makes thier memory cards about 4* as expensive as everywhere else

I've just had an e-mail from Jessops with the link -it excludes DSLRs as we suspected :(

Doesn't say anything about lenses though but I suspect even with 10% off there are better UK retailers

Pfft. Will still be buying from Jessops though as a) I get to handle it :naughty: and b) once P&P is taken into consideration there's only about a tenner in it twixt Jessops and UK sourced suppliers.

Means I don't have to rush back from Bradford tomorrow in time to order :D

Well unless i'm missing something I had an email from them this morning and it says 10% off everything and nowhere does it exclude DSLR's, add to that the price went down on the 40D last night I will give it a try.

Edit: crafty so and so's it doesn't say it in the email, only on the webpage link.:(

"You have added the following Jessops.com voucher:
3HOURS - 3 hour special - 10% off everything excluding Digital SLR's"

And the 10% hasnt come off the 40d in my basket... I hate Jessops :bang:

What I want to know is why last night it was £748.90 and today its gone up to £789.99.
Boy they really know how to lose business, hardly suprising they are strugling.

Found the same for some ink cartridges I wanted.... Could swear they were £8.99 previously, but £9.99 today.... with discount, hmmm they're £8.99....

Look carefully, and part of the 40d page still refers to the 748.90 price.... mentioning it would be 698.90 with the £50 Canon cashback... dodgy bas*ards

i.e, at the top of the page for the 40d, it says

"You pay £748.90 and claim £50 cashback from Canon
Final cost to you: £698.90
How to claim your cashback from Canon
Full terms and conditions with details of how to claim can be found at http://www.canon-europe.com/2007promotions (opens new window on Canon website) or click here to download your claim form now."

the webex24 code will still drop the price to £749.99, so £699.99 after canon cashback, but its still not at the price advertised

Well if Jessops are giving a 10% off everything that still means they are 40% more expensive then any other place then.

Oh yeah! cheeky buggers!

I was caught by this price rise. At 9am today logged on to Jessops website and found I could collect at store a 40D at £748.90. Thought I would wait util after noon just to check the 10% deal, then the collect at store price was £789.99 (same as in-store price) Putting in the WEBEX24 code put the price back to £749 but no collect at store option.

Talked to the manager in Jessops store but she wouldn't budge, so no purchase for me or sale for them!

Mr Perceptive

Sounds like a call to Trading Standards might be in order. I'm not an expert but I'm sure that there are controls over promotions like this. It surely can't be right to increase a price by 10% whilst a 10% off promotion is running! It's got to be worth a call at any rate.

Here's Jessops response to my query on this: Can anyone make sense of it?!

Andrew,

The prices weren't increased for the offer it was that on the previous day they were actually reduced.

Rebecca"

haha so they claim the prices were "reduced" before the 10% discout offer, when the prices were put back to "normal" - they don't have a clue how to get business do they :(

I'd been "price watching" for a few days and I am damned sure the price was "lower" for more than 24hrs before the sale more like a few days
I thought the "normal way" for these so called sales was a price HIKE 24 hrs before the sale anyway

It was I took a screendump of it, nothing now suprises me with Jessops.

They dont actually say that the price was lower for only 24 hours earlier, just that on the previous day the prices were reduced, that could have been reduced for weeks before hand. But legally they maybe use this as an excuse, saying that there prices are reduced when they arent offering discouts. Which ever way its a load of crap and they just seem to be hoping to trick people into spending money with them.
