Hi guys,

I am in the process of getting back into DSLR photography after a couple of years and will be purchasing my new gear in the next 2 weeks.

I am looking to spend around £900 . I have two questions -

What options do I have in terms of where to buy?

Will I get a discount when spending around £900?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

All I can say is the more you spend the more you are likely to get off, but even then its tricky sometimes. I got my gear from Jessops and got about £80 off the RRP including a Sandisk extreme CF card £50 less than their RRP. It's always worth a try but do the research and maths first.

Have a look at the advertisers on this forum! Most, if not all give a discount to forum members! Here is the thread.
Kerso can supply cameras and lenses, Redsnapper does bags and tripods, FITP for lighting etc.
In my opinion, they are cheaper than most high street shops.

if you google jessops vouchers they give you a code to type in that will give you discount
depends how much you spend to what u get off

but you could easily get 40 quid of

As has been said try the traders on here. If you want canon then try kerso and if you want nikon then try Stuart at digital depot. If you pm them through here then they know you are members.

Well, they dont really! You have to haggle, quite a lot!

A while ago they were knocking out genuine Canon 50D batteries at less than half price. Probably the exception rather than the rule but worth keeping an eye on.

Don't discount secondhand from someone like mob to make your money go further

Dont forget Quidco if your buying online also.

Rank amateur here- got my d3100 an a few other bits from jessops- lens, flashgun sd, card, cleaning kits, and managed to get them to take serious cash off and throw in some freebies.
All I did was research online and print off these prices once you know what you want, go in, be open and state name etc. Be friendly and clear you will pay that day. Don't talk money immediately- ask for a 'deal'. Once they take cash off, they'll take more off.
Further info (and for all tp users) google 'dominic littlewood how to get discounts' - it really works. Managed it again for a rocket blower today(!)
Alternatively second hand is a good option. Just don't be afraid to take the ****. These shops want your money.

If your going to buy anything from jessops, order online and you should get a healthy disount.

Ordered my Canon 550d online and saved £50. Also ordered tripod online and saved another £30. Just order it omline, get your ref number and pay for itmes at the shop.
