Heads up guys,

Jessops have lowered the price of most of Sigma's telephoto stuff :D

120-300 f/2.8 EX EG for £1449, just popped to the shop to get one and didn't really believe they'd let it go for that... that's the lowest I've seen it new.

and more of a shock is their 100-300 at £600, I saw second hand ones go for £50 more a week ago!

bargain!!!
god bless jessops and their crazy pricing strategy :D
Hope it's useful ;)

Rumour is that Sigma is no longer jessops ' preffered' brand .

according to the nice chaps in the Guildford branch, Tamron paid for display space and Tamron's market share on the low end stuff has increased quite a bit over the last couple of years. I'm non-the-wise really but it's good for us buyers :D

Its a shame Jessops seem to have stopped stocking Pantax mounts now.

I can believe that, bought a Tamron lens brand new for £80, but when I dropped it my insurance got a quote from Jessops and sent me £199 worth of Jessops vouchers, now that is a big mark-up :)

Also maybe Jessops have at last seen the light with their pricing.

I think the term you are looking for is 'line of credit' this is term suppliers use when suppling retailers.

If they feel the 'line of credit' or ability to pay their bills may be compromised then suppliers reduce how much stock they will supply to a retailer.

I that situation a retailer may find another 'preffered' supplier and then sell off the first suppliers stock to pay their bill.

looks liek I could be parting with some lenses for another 100-300 at that price

Can anyone tell me if the Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Lens, is decent enough for general use.

£149, in stock at my loacl branch, £70 cheaper then other places....

There's none in stock anywhere if you do a search on thier site - like the old saying goes "Mine are cheaper when I havent got any" :bonk::bonk:

I think there's some pricing errors on the site:

Sigma 28 - 105mm f3.8/5.6 IF Canon AF
£9.97

Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro (Sigma AF)
£19.97

Pick up at store only and none of the stores seem to have any.

Just had a look and the 70-300 is mail order only, might give a go, got to be worth a punt at £20!

O was looking at the Canon, lucky you if you have the right format of camera!!!

I just called their mail order about a 24-70mm f2.8 ex dg sigma for £129.99.

"that will be at least 28 days delivery sir, but could be longer, who knows" was the response I got when I asked how soon I could get it.

I don't think I'll bother ordering when I have the "who knows" attitude given to me! Hardly instills confidence!!

hello all,

Looking at the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8EX DG....is it worth the £299 it is listed as? I always am unsure of Sigma...but at that price it might be worth the risk. Is this an alright lens?

I think you might struggle to find on in stock Grayman, there was a thread about it recently i think!

will it be like the x1.4 teleconverter saga from late last year?

telecon. saga? Andrew can you explain please? :)

Last year Jessops were offering Sigma x1.4 teleconverters for £ 50 rather than the normal £ 150. Everyone on the internet ordered several and only a handful who were able to get one. People complained and some daft people even threatened legal action.

It was an end of line thing for Jessops and they were clearing their shelves of a small amount of stock. I got one by reserving online and being at the shop door the next morning before it opened.

And now the website is down:
To ensure we continue to improve your shopping experience with Jessops, we are upgrading our systems over the next few hours from 11pm 11/08/09.

Unfortunately this means that the website is currently unavailable.

Thank you for your patience, please try again later.

Regards,

The Jessops Team

I note you have a Canon 20D and you've ordered a Sigma AF fit lens?

EDIT: Ahh looks like I was beaten by two other people!

Better being straight up and saying it could be ages, the other option would be to make up a date....

True, but to be hapy to take my money and casually say who knows when you'll get it is not a good way to do Buisness at all.

Looks like the website is struggling as people clamber to buy silly price gear...
