Over 3 weeks ago I ordered a new Nikon fit Sigma 70-200 f2.8 from Jessops. Last week I called to see what was going on and was a delivery date of July 28th. I am not in a hurry for the lens and had a look around, some places are quoting over 900 squid for the lens. Whats going on. Any one know why it might take a big group like Jessops so long to procure a relatively common lens.

I've had an interfit xs softbox thing and bracket on order for over 3 weeks now, jessops are very kindly sending me texts to tell me it's not in stock yet just to get my back up.

I thought that Jessops were no longer Sigma stockists. I had also thought that that could well be because Sigma may not have been paid as regularly as they would like, so Jessops may have been on "stop" with Sigma.

IMO, it may be worth getting any deposit refunded and ordering the lens from somewhere else (after checking the new supplier's stock situation).

My local jessops which is admittedly small has no Sigma gear in at all, its all Canon, Nikon and Tamron.

I've been told that Jessops are no longer stocking Sigma by my local Jessops branch.

For quite a while you could see Sigma lenses listed on the website but marked as not available to order at silly prices, presumably to act as spoiler tactic against price comparison websites.

When I bought a Sigma lens there last September and enquired about availability the manager told me that they would still sell Sigma, but that Sigma had changed their terms and required payment for the stock before it was sent to Jessops as opposed to months afterwards, and hence Sigma kit would no longer be in stock, but would still be offered for sale, but you'd have to wait for it to be ordered from Sigma.
Not sure whether this turned out to be the case, as clearly some Sigma items are in stock, but I guess the in stock range has been reduced.
