Hi
I finally thought I would take the plunge today and treat myself to a 40D, I looked on line and although I found it cheaper elsewhere I decided to use the code on camerapricebuster and buy online at jessops and use the collect at store option.
The camera was £780, but with the discount code it brought it down to £750, to make it even more appealing I was going to make use of the interest free credit that they offered.
I trundled down to my local Jessops at lunchtime with all the required paperwork, and there is was waiting for me. First problem, it was the display model, obviosuly the box had been opened but thought that was ok, then the envelop where the manuals and warranty was had been ripped open and the battery was used, was starting to think this was pushing it, but still wanted it. Then we got to the credit agreement, this is with Clydesdale Bank, for once I read the small print, you can repay the loan back in full at the end of 12 months, but you have to pay a £30 admin fee. So although that is interest free a admin fee means it actually costs 4%.
Needless to say I walked out and have ordered it online from Cameraworld who were very helpful and it will be with me tomorrow.
I checked the smallprint on Warehouse express who also offer a 12month interest free credit with Clydesdale Bank and they don;t charge the £30. I have previously stuck up for Jessops in the past, but this is the last time I will even think about using them.
On a positive note I have a 40D on order
