I have one of these which was dropped and the bottom plastic plate has cracked. (The bit that fits into the hotshoe with the contacts on)

Can these be bought as spares?

Or shall I just bin it off and buy a new flash?

I definitely wouldn't bin it though I have no idea if there's spares such as you describe.

However, if it still physically works and you can superglue it and add an optical slave to it then you have the start of an off camera flash setup, assuming you don't already.
 
m8 of mine dropped his and snapped the same bit, he super glued it back on, works fine fitted to the hotshoe
 
If you have a look on Ebay these turn up for "spares or repair" all the time for a few quid, as long as you make sure to get a Nikon-fit one you should be able to cannibalise it to repair yours. Failing that, it can still be used off-camera in optical slave mode, triggered from the pop-up flash on your D300s.
