I recently bought a job lot of 4 faulty (turn on, but don't fire) Jessops 360AFD flashes (they should arrive in about a week), if I'm lucky, I'll just be able to re-solder a wire that's come loose, but at most I'm thinking it'll require a new bulb. Has anyone had to purchase a new bulb for one of these before, what's the part number?

Also, any other pointers would be great for repairing these, I know about the danger of capacitors, and how to discharge them etc, but anything else will be great :)

got these now, they all turn on, but don't fire, haven't had a chance to open them up at all yet, but anyone got any ideas on part numbers?

No idea on part numbers, however the 360AFD is a rebranded Tumax DPT386AFZ, so Tumax are probably the people to ask....

Obviously you know little about flash. They are not bulbs, they are flash tubes. When your hair starts to smoke a quick trot to a shower usually cools your hair down.

I know they're not the standard bulb, but electrically (which is as much as I care about for the purposes of repairing it), it's a bulb, just with different characteristics. So if your not going to contribute anything useful, please just shut up...

One way of putting it , I suppose

last batch i brought of them of the bay 2 worked and the others just had snapped wires in the end.

I bought one, it had a broken wire in the top half behind the bulb / tube / light thingy.. Watch out as I got a couple of shocks...

I still haven't got round to opening any of them up to try to find what's wrong, however I went into Jessops today with one of them to see if they would replace it. Wasn't really expecting them too, but thought the worse that can happen, is they say no. However, they switched it, so, I've now got 1 working, and 3 non-working flashes, which in total cost me about £25. Not too bad, I'll let everyone know what happens if I open any of the flashes up.

Well, that's a nice example of how to commit fraud
