Looking to buy a flashgun to use on my D200 for off camera flash for primarily aquatic fish pics.

MBP have a Jessops unit for £60 or an SB600 FOR £134.

Which would you choose/recommend and why please ?

a good lit tank and a fast lens is what you need. well its what I used last time I went to an aquarium, a flash will just bounce off the glass and cause more problems.
Do Nikon do the equivalent of the canon 50mm f1.8?

If you could light it from above - perfect. You want like a softbox or umbrella to make light big.

Jessops flash probably won't allow any manual controls so rule that out. There are some Yongnuo flashes worth looking at too for off-camera work.

Lenses - something wide and fast (f/2.8 or less) usually.

Jessops flash does do manual. However it's a bit slow to recharge and mine at least was sometimes a bit unpredictable with its power output.

I'd lean towards a cheap Yongnuo flash

when i was looking at flash`s alot of reviews on the jessops ones weren`t that good, slow recharge times also build quality from what i remember

Well I bought a jessops unit off the bay for less than forty quid, so will report back once it arrives.
