Rob,

I think you'd be very disappointed with the results and the usability of the setup. I can't speak from experience with this particular lens or T/C but most people don't use 2x on zooms....even top of the range zooms and T/C's. You wouldn't get automatic focus and you'd be really struggling for light at the long end....the teleconverter will take take 2 stops worth away from the native lens which is already f/5.6 at 300mm.

I have used one on my 70-300IS Canon lens and was surprised with the results having read that they would be terrible. All depends on what you want to use the images for as to whether they would be of good enough "Quality". If just for record shots, for self use or on web site then i would say they are fine providing there is enough light when taking the shot.

One thing i would add though is try to buy used as they are available much cheaper than from Jessops ...... only paid £5 for mine :)

Sorry but NO the canon converter only fit a limited range of the canon L series lenses, since it has a piece sticking out at the front which would foul on the rear of the lens :(

Any converter with an F5.6 lens will lose auto focus but some of the third party converters will fit.
