JD's 52 For 2010 Week 2, Poetry.

Good luck! The bandwagon is indeed a rolling....

I just hope it goes slow enough so I can hold on.. ;)

It will be easy after doing the 365 i bet!

Good luck anyway, looking forward to see what you come up with

It does seem easy in theory, but I'm going to push myself as much as I can during it.

Well, this is a thread i will indeed be coming back and forth to, to see some inspiration.

I have a few ideas to kick off my 52

Good Luck and i wish you all the best this year!!;)

Cheers Stephen, you too. :D

A shot from today's trip around Belfast. I did have the theme playing round and round in my head. This was shot on a Nikon F50 and Kodak BW400CN film.

I wish I'd used a wider aperture to throw the background out a bit more, there's no going back with film though. :)

Great start, love the feel of it in black and white

Good spot mate, it sure is curved

Yup, got that bit anyway!

nice shot Jonny i like the reflections on the wet path it adds a bit extra to the shot. Good choice with the B/W too.
Wayne

There wasn't really a choice with the B&W, only had a film camera with me, so had to shoot it in B&W. ;)

Nice interpretation of the theme Jonny.

Ta Chris. :D

The black and white works well. Certainly fits the brief

Andy

I think I've been a bit too literal with the theme to be honest. :)

good start! :)

Ta Kitten.

I've decided to use Kodak 400CN again, it's a lot nicer than Ilfords XP2 which is a C41 processed film as well. It's no HP5, but it'll do. ;)

Loving this one in B&W agree with kapawayna the reflections bring it to life.

Nice one, it made me think of the Olympic Rings for some reason ;) Good spot.

Hi Jonny and welcome aboard the bandwagon !!! :D
Are you planning on doing the whole 52 on film? (surely you can't be that mad!)

Great start to the challenge, and really well spotted - I'm seeing the Olympic Rings too!
I'm in 2 minds about the B&W though TBH. It might just be my monitor, but the bike frames are blending into the bike stand a little bit for me. I wonder if it had been shot in colour whether there'd be a bit more definition there ?????
Then again you might have lost your Olympic Rings if you'd shot in colour - and what do I know anyway - I certainly seem to be in the minority with that?
Anyway, still a very good start to the challenge. Looking forward to seeing next week's.

Agree with what the others have said, love the b&w. Really like your film stuff

I almost took a very similar shot myself for my 52, but had ran out of battery.
Really like the reflections, nice pic.

Thanks folks. :D

I had thought about doing the whole 52 on film. ;) B&W film as well.
I think it maybe is your monitor Sarah, there is a definite difference between the bike and the bike stand on my monitor. ;)

Yep, excellent interpretation Jonny. I'm gonna have to have a go at this film stuff - my dad found my old developing tank and chemicals (about 30 years old!) up in his loft the other day.

Cheers Dave. :) I am still not set up for home developing just yet so I'm still shooting C41 film that any lab (including Tesco) can process. 97p for developed film scanned onto a cd is hard to beat!! ;) I fully intend on starting home dev very soon. :D

97p? That's a bargain! Last time Tesco's did anything for me the film came back scratched though. You had any problems?

You'll have to forgive me as I'm using quite an old laptop so I'm probably seeing the image at it's best, but I do like the B&W look, the bikes do get lost in each other for me also, but again as mentioned above it could be my screen. Think the only thing I would have been tempted to do would have been to straighten the front wheel up of the front bike, just to finish the Olympic look.

All calibrated and looking fine here mate. ;) I didn't really see the rings while taking the shot, I might have straightened it if I did though. I just saw a load of curves if I'm honest. :)

looks so much better large and with the black background
the hoarding (?) in the background does detract a little

good plan though - leave yourself room to improve - eh!

Yeah the sun was low and over to the right, so I didn't want to blow the highlights, (no LCD on a film camera) So I stuck with safe boring f/8. ;)

nice shot jonny:thumbs:

jumps on the bandwagon... I like it ;)

Thanks you two. :D

I may be in the minority but I am not keen on the image as it is. I find the background distracting and the mixture of the bikes and the stand are a bit of a jumble.

I think a great image for the theme would have been the rear wheels of the bikes and their reflections.

Jonny, I like it, good curves, it took me a moment to spot the Olympic rings, good start to the 52

Thanks for looking anyway Ed. :)

It took someone else to point it out for me to see it!!
