Day 279. Bubbles And Drops.

3987475356_ca984b1728_o.jpg

One day closer to the grand day of cheque clearing :) Thanks to Gazedd for this idea, I'd have never have thought of it.

Basically involves a sink, a pint glass and loads of really soapy hot water. Quite good fun and I'm pleased with the results, I really like the bokeh on this one, the other two not as much.

STROBIST: SB900 fired remotely using CLS 90deg right of camera, facing towards drop and into sink. Boring TTL. f/22 1/160 ISO200

All I did was exactly as Gazedd told me!! I filled the sink up quite a way with really soapy warm water. Dunk the pint glass upside down into the water a few times until a bubble hangs from the lip. The water inside then runs down through the bubble.

That's a great shot Jonny, but I think it would look even better with the slightly out of focus top part cropped out, it's a little distracting. Leaving you the perfectly formed droplet and just a bit of the bubble curve

Day 280. I Went Outside!!

God I love spending money...

Today the cheque cleared, I was at the bank at opening time with a slightly ravenous look on my face. 30 minutes later I was on a bus, then I was on a train. I had my eye on this car for over a week and thankfully no-one else bought it. By 1 o'clock this afternoon I was the proud new owner of a 2003 TDCI Zetec S Mondeo. And it's lovely!!

I'd planned to take a shot of the car in front of a sunset using rear synch flash. I'd have actually liked to give it a go to see if I could do what I visualised in my head.

EDIT: I really really need more flashes, and some triggers. CLS works well, but if you try something a bit strange and the signal doesn't get to the flash, it becomes annoying.

Congrats on the car, looks like it's in good condition. Not 100% sure of the processing.

So what camera gear you going to get ;) ?

I don't really like it either. :D

But I just moved stuff about and went "That'll do!"

Check the edit. I've my eye on a couple or three SB24's and a cactus V4 trigger system. Think I will hold off on any more lens, would love to get more into the strobist thing. :)

I like the moody contrast of the original version, but the car looks a bit pink :D

Great looking car park for pics too ;)

Day 281

Let's play spot the flash. It's quite easy really! :)

An unusual day was had, took gran shopping this morning, then went and sorted a couple of bank transfers, then came home and took Thomas to work. I'd arrranged to go to the cinema tonight so I thought I would leave the idea I had for a 365 shot until after the flicks. (Zombieland, very good and funny)

It's been done a lot better by a lot of other people. But considering I sort of guessed at the exposure etc, I think it came out ok. :)

This counts as a setup shot as well. Tripod was wedged onto the passengers seat with the seat belt wrapped around and through it's legs.

Day 282. Zorki'd.

Rudely awakened by the postman this morning, I wasn't expecting it as soon, considering I only paid for it yesterday.

It's Russian, built like a tank and is fully manual, there isn't even a built in meter. I spent lunch time with the Bern, then went out and about. To be honest, I'm not expecting much from my first film through it. It's like learning to use a camera from start again, everything is new. I can't wait for my Nikon FM to arrive now. :)

That is a funky retro camera, reckon that would be a cool camera to be seen out and about with, nice one !

It is quite cool, has it's own leather case as well. :) The lack of a built in light meter makes it a bit of a guessing game. The FM will be urbex film camera, complete with Ilford HP5.

Great shot - lighting is spot on. Looks to be a minter too!

Going film then Jonny, or just a curiosity?

Cheers Dave, just trying it on for size. :D I wish I'd went from film to digital instead of the other way around. The FM should be a nice buy. :)

Zorki looks very nice Johnny! Enjoy. Look forward to seeing the results. Have an FG and an F-301 too. If you need any glass for the FM, let me know, plenty of nice fast lenses, 35mm f2, 50mm 1.8 and 100mm, 135mm f2.8 as well as a couple of f3.5 telephotos. Fun fun fun.

Zorki is a minter for £40.

I'll probably stick the nifty on it for the first while. Film is mad as toast!! :D

Day 283. My First Attempts With Film.

Photo17_17-1.jpg

Awakened again by the postman, I'd be better actually waking up early and waiting on him. :) My Nikon FM arrived this morning, a bit tatty and worn, it has a bug of some sort inside the prism, you have to shake the camera a bit so it doesn't appear on the viewfinder. It was cheap, so I'm not that worried.

I hadn't planned on using a shot from the first film through it for my 365, but I just had too. Marley again, she's staying for good this time. :D
