JD's 365.

Not sure what it is about the first, the window and walls are excellent, but feels like I want to see more of the stairs.

I reckon I'd go for the 2nd shot, nice lines, foreground interest and nice mono conversion ;)

thanks mate, the 10-20 let me down again. Even on the tripod with it at f/8, there was loads of CA, probably due to the harsh light but mostly to do with the lens I feel. B&W was my only option for the second one.

Day 257.

3919829475_3c9ef88345_o.jpg

A different view of Slemish today. I drove this road when I was sussing out the rally stage, and it's taken me this long to get back to shoot it.

The less said about work the better today. :(

Day 258. Meet Ian. Say hello, just don't shake her hand.

A great day!!! I'm happy, overjoyed, ecstatic etc etc.

Finally my redundancy offer materialised, I said yes straight away!! No idea when I will be leaving work but I'm very happy to have got what I want. Slightly less than what would have been perfect, but a lot better than anyone else!!

So, I'm away for a beer, meet Ian. Ian's hungry......

This gives a bit of scale to how big Ian is, from what's left of it, I think that's a wasp...

Stop tempting me!
I might have to do a studio shot of my 70-200 tomorrow.

No, no no no... NO.

I'm starting up my other stupidly expensive hobby, maybe a bit misguided... NO!

70-200? Pah, old hat now! I want the 300 f/2.8 VR now!

Great shots recently Jonny. That spider looks humongus! The dog looks really dopey and the urbex shots are great

Now that's a lens I want.
I've wanted that for over a year now, the fact that it works well with the 2xTC is a massive draw. I've seen results from that combo on a D700 too, ****ing awesome.

You guys are killing me.

Nice to hear you got what you want Jonny, great feeling once you know of a long time waiting ;)

I really love that last spider shot, fantastic detail and composition, really makes you feel like you are in Ian's world ;)

Thanks Dave, the spider is huge!! She's completely ate the wasp now.

Thanks Julian, it does feel great!! :D

Day 259. Ballintoy Harbour.

3926149887_39f5876057_o.jpg

Quite a lazy day at work. I wonder why?? I didn't exactly have free roam to do what I wanted, but got a 5 minute window for a dander at lunch time.

I should be finished with work by the end of the month, how non-committal is that?? I wanted to be gone by the end of this week!!

Right football on TV, must rush. Catch up later!!

Day 260. Foyle Bridge, Stroke City.

10mm (In case you couldn't tell)

17mm (well duh!!)
3929646190_0110e5d207_o.jpg

Another chilled day at work. If anyone follows me on Twitter they would know that I'm not joking either!!

This is the Foyle Bridge in Londonderry/Derry/Stroke City. Not sure which one I like more, the 10mm has the wide angle and distortion that I love. But it also has a large highlight area to the left. The 17mm is actually from a lot closer, think I prefer the 10mm one. Or maybe the 17mm one.....Definitely the 17mm one, 10mm is very "over there"

I like the first ;) Like the contrast of the water and seaweed or moldy sand as my daughter just called it :D

2nd looks a little soft in comparison

I can't see the softness? Looks ok here, I think compositionally wise the first is a lot stronger. The second was just "click" that'll do!!

Nice shot Jonny and very spooky - check out my shot for today!

Will do. :D

Day 261. A Change Of Perspective.

3931517545_6a1c3678d7_o.jpg

PP'd quite heavily and not exactly a final edit, but definitely something to try again. Obviously at 10mm, I just love the different look it gives to shots. Was on the tripod upside down, copied from Practical Photography magazine. Not sure I'd change anything about it, except for the noisy sky. :) It's soft as well, But mainly due to NR. Should have seen the sky before!! :D

Well, it's hello from me!!
