Day 163. Another Day, Another Wedding.

This one felt completely different to the first. The couple were such good fun and so relaxed through the day, it was a joy to do!! I've just had a quick upload with lightroom and a really quick look through, I'm actually really pleased with some of what I've got.

Anyway, long day, very tired, still not smoking. Night!

The Lough Eske one made it the whole way to #24 on Flickr Explore, which I'm really pleased about. It's by far and away my most faved picture on Flickr, with 40, four times 2nd place!!
 
Ooooh no.
I'd start thinking too much and mess it up.
Probably set them all at full power and shoot ISO a billion or something :lol:

You would have been far better than me, luckily Nikon's Commander mode is exceptionally easy to use. It was for a fairly large group, probably about 60 people in the function room, sun high in the sky behind them, group standing in front of a conservatory type large window. 2 sb600's setup at both left and right set to 1/32, sb900 at -2.3ev. Took 3 attempts to get it right. Forgot after the first shot to expose correctly for the sun outside!! Lessons were learnt!!
 
Day 164. Belly Dancer!!

Normal Saturday, well some of it!! Shopping with Gran in the morning. Rudely awakened by my brother coming in off night shift at 530. I just lay and dozed until it was time to get up.

Was at a birthday party/BBQ tonight and belly dancers were the entertainment, taken with no flash, nifty wide open, and 6400 ISO. It's noisy but just about passable as a picture. And taken at 20 to 11 tonight, so quite dark as well!!​
 
Lovely feeling of movement in that last picture :thumbs:

and the noise adds to the mood nicely
 
Thanks Nic and Chris, the Nifty came up trumps really, I had forgotten to bring my flash and the pop-up was switched off in commander mode, (D'oh! I realised when I got home) it really was very dark, Nikon have impressed me yet again!! :thumbs:
 
I had no idea the D90 went to ISO 6400, is that calibrated or in a Hi mode?
 
Day 165. Glenariff Forest Park.

A non urbex day, decided yesterday that I'd like to try some more water/waterfall shots so off to Glenariff we went. Definitely worth the £4 entry fee. Had a great day, got ate alive by flies and bugs but it all was worth the pain!! Oh, still not smoking.

Look out for more later in Animals and Nature :thumbs:
 
Thanks Marc and Tim!! Today has just confirmed to me that I really need some filters, I ended up standing in the middle again with a tripod, looking like a fool! :lol: You would think people in Norn Iron hadn't seen someone with a DSLR before, I got that many comments off people passing by. :)
 
Day 166.

First day back to work after a mini long weekend. Slept in horribly today, the patches are now going to be taken off before bedtime, I can't sleep and when I do, I have really weird horrible dreams. :(

Anyway, Rathlin in the background, trees and grassy stuff in foreground. Just a crap day really.​
 
Foreground is a little dark, have your tried to lighten it a bit? But there is something about this shot, think it's the DoF really like it :)

165 is an excellent shot and very well executed (as already pointed out ;) )

166 is nice, but as Julian mentioned a little dark in the foreground, but nice all the same :thumbs:
 
Dude, I've spent the morning (in between working *whistles*) reading this from start to finish and I've thoroughly enjoyed it :) Strangely, I feel like I sort of know you as a person now!

Anyway, you have inspired me to get out with my camera much more and also get back in to the urbex that I did a few of a year or two ago.

Also, I'm from NI too so found it particularly interesting to see what you made of our wee country :)

Thanks very much!!! :thumbs: Don't start a 365 though, a 52 is what I should have done.

I feel like I know everyone that's doing a 365, despite having never met any of them. With a 365 you are seeing my life to an extent, I've treated it as a kind of diary as well! :)
 
Day 167. Terminal Van Damage.

Today was lovely up until 5 this afternoon, was driving home when I heard the fatal clanging noise from the engine of the van. (AGAIN!!) These lights lit up, so I pulled over. The fuel light was on, even though there was plenty of fuel. Oil light?? Mmmmm... Stop light?? Ok Ok I'll stop!!

The previous clanging metal against metal noise was soon replaced by a screeching metal against metal noise, I think I just stopped the engine just before it seized solid. Good quality french engineering, 96500 miles and I've had 7 breakdowns. Not bad considering in just over two years I've done 64000 miles.

So a two hour wait for the AA man. I actually gave up hope at one point and was tempted to walk home, again the AA sent a van to the wrong town for me. Why have a call centre for the UK in france??? The women hadn't much hope of understanding me when people from here struggle!!

If I was to type like I talk then nobody here would understand me either!! The broad Norn Iron accent probably wasn't part of the AA's french teams training schedule.

Oh and no, didn't have a ciggy. :thumbs:
 
Oh bad day, reminds me of a previous job, had all sorts of issues with pool cars, one the exhaust fell off, another over heated and a 3rd had a total ABS failure whilst bombing down the motorway.

I had a scenic route home planned as well. It's two days spoilt, the van had to be recovered to my house, so I've to wait around tomorrow for the lease company to sort out recovery of my van to a garage, and then they have to sort out another vehicle for me. Then, I have to go and swap all my tools and equipment into the new vehicle. By that time, I'll have just enough time for one job. (purely based on previous experience of lease firms)
 
Day 168. The Day Of New.

Today was definitely the day of new. New Van!! And a new lens, that I've yet to pick up. It's large, special delivery and I need to sign for it!! I wonder what it is??

Today was a wasted day overall though, spent this morning at an engineers meeting. After it finished I had to sit about and wait for the new van. Then I had to drive back to the house and swap over all the gear from the old broken down, blown up, smokey excuse for a van parked in the driveway. I then forgot to take the camera out with me. D'oh!​
 
Cool new van, expect it to feature in one of your 365 shots now (ahh of course it just did :bonk: ) ;)

Hmmm new lens, whatcha get, whatcha get . . . ?
