JD's 365.

How odd, everybody sharing symptoms like that, at least you're on the mend :D

You should have had more alcohol to kill the germs off JD - it's all your fault ;)

Haven't had any alcohol for a week, maybe it's my body craving it!!

How odd, everybody sharing symptoms like that, at least you're on the mend :D

Sorry you're not too well JD, hope you're feeling better soon.

Cheers, I'm fully awake and need to go to sleep. Might have a beer....

Day 139.

3545857213_b893f006cc_b.jpg

Felt a bit better today, head down and got on with it. Was in Buncrana for some of the day today and rather than take a picture of Buncrana, (again) I thought I'd take one of the road down from the mountains towards Derry. ICE made a wee mistake, and I can't rectify it. :( The whole image is actually 4x10mm portrait shots stitched together. The original image is 5263x3389. Quite Big!!

Not come across ICE, is the mistake the join in the middle around the sea area?

Great idea, it makes my eyes stretch left and right

It is there Julian, I wish I'd taken a proper landscape shot while I was there, but it was basically stop the van, take a few and off again. You can choose how it joins them, one of them came out extremely fish-eye like. Was tempted to post it, but this was better.

Day 140. Which Way To Go?

DSC_7776.jpg

Quite a lazy hazy day. Maybe the first few beers in a week had something to do with that. I was stuck on 2 massive sites today so had to quickly grab a few shots on the way home. My "extremely diverted" way home worked wonders again. This was taken just outside of a town called Cargan in the Glens. First time I've seen modern art up around this way.

This way,... no, that way :D
Well it's definitely up, sort of.
What happened to the off camera flash?

Mine's going - Beer. Flash. Beer. Flash. In no particular order.
There is a bit of, how can I afford 3 more speedlights and some PW's? In there for good measure.

Using CLS is annoying me, it's very good, extremely clever, adjusting flash power in camera is awesome.

But...

You can't backlight when you're close to the subject because no matter what you do some of the trigger flash lands on the subject.

You can't do portraits, the trigger flash makes people blink.

Day 141. Tonight Matthew, I'm Going To Be...

DSC_7790.jpg

Don't you love it when people come to your house then leave beer in the fridge? Not usually a Foster's fan, but free beer is free!!!

More of a practise with on-camera flash, exposure locked for the sky outside, -1.7 dialled into the flash.

The exact same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago.
I put it in a glass though, makes it taste better.

That shot made me laugh, given the perspective, makes you look like you have a popeye arm :D

I can't drink Fosters, it makes me sick :(

It's always good when beer gets left behind though. I had a party once and ended up with a few cans and 3 bottles of wine :) Enjoy! :D

It does taste better in a glass, I took your advice with the last 6.....

:razz::p:razz:

Like you say - free beer is free beer

It's all gone!!

And you used the wide angle to enlarge the can!

I'm just a small fella really!! ;)

Day 142. Such An Effort...

DSC_7801copy__copy2.jpg

This was the most effort I've put into a 365 shot, and in my opinion isn't a great one. I traipsed down a hill covered in sheep **** for about 10 minutes, went on my hoop twice, got completely covered in a strange bog like substance and got this. I really should have made more of an effort and tried to make it further down the hill, but Jonny was cold and had ruined his shoes and couldn't be annoyed. So it'll have to do. :(

I've just threw the shoes out Marc. :( Need to buy a new pair of safety shoes for work now!!

Cheers. I think I'm just stuck on what the picture could have been, had the wrong lens on for a start!!

It's a 1020 shot, I wish I had framed the rear of the picture better to make more of the forest and the skyline, I should have had the 18-105 on. I need bigger pockets!! :)

I was knee deep in crap on the way to this viewpoint and didn't fancy the trek back to the van and down again, so just made do.

Well I think it's good, has a nice sense of depth to it, HDR conversion works well too

I like it too, the eye is drawn into the picture along the line of the valley.

Wasn't intended to be an HDR but the original was very flat looking. Isn't that what HDR is for? ;)

Thanks Both, still don't like it. :bang:

Nice picture, but would have been even nicer with some nice forgound interest, or maybe a niceer sky :)

365/09 143 The Dreaded Wedding Day...

DSC_7837.jpg

This was the day both Bern and I had been dreading all week, didn't sleep a wink, was awake from 7 this morning. Had flash compensation jargon floating around in my head all night.

Actually went very well, I've uploaded all of my photos and I'm quite pleased. Not exactly up to professional standard but for a first time they aren't bad! Only downer on the day was having our bridal party shoot location rained off, but we improvised and soldiered on.

Anyone thinking of doing a wedding, stop and think. It's bloody hard work! I'm absolutely knackered. I NEED faster glass. I also need to practise A LOT more with my flash. Bounced flash FTW!!! Dark and dingy interiors and a ban on all flash photography during the service meant the 50mm got a hammering. I went equipped with 2 bodies, the D90 with flash and 18-105 and the D40 with the nifty. Yet again the D90 came up trumps, the high ISO is a definite benefit to the camera.

Enjoyed it immensely, another one in 3 weeks!!!

well done for doing it. Were you taking the official wedding shots?

I was taking back-up official shots, over the shoulder of the other tog, I realise now how difficult weddings are, trying to get everyone in a picture to look at the camera at the same time is quite hard. I really enjoyed it, really hard work but exhilarating! :D

Great shots Jonny (just catching up again). Love the sky in 142 :)

Thanks Dave!:)

Day 144. Haven't had a Sasha Picture in a while!!

3560000001_968ecc5f19_o.jpg

I've had a lazy beer filled day in front of the TV/Computer. I've made a start on processing the wedding pictures. I've been nominated by a majority of 1, to process all of them, mine and Berns, basically to get a bit of consistancy to the look. (and because Bern is lazy :p)

I've discovered Lightroom and I like it!! It's been sitting on my computer un-used for a while, makes a quick process very easy. I like the presets, much more user friendly than photoshop. However, the discovery of lightroom has affected my workflow dramatically. I used to use PS for everything, but now I import in lightroom and process what doesn't need major work. If it does need major work I then open in PS and process there. I've overdone the vignetting on this but couldn't really care, I'm a wee bit tipsy!!
