JD's 365.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow ;)

Lovely day here today also, looks great there too (no trademark JD dark clouds). Is that horizon a little bit wonky

Cheers Julian, I did straighten it but it put the barrier on the right way off, so I left it as it is.

All the best for tomorrow JD.

Thanks Marc. :)

Hope everything ok tomorrow, fingers crossed.

I agree with you about the weather, I was stuck indoors today for the 1st time in 4 weeks :(

Thanks Kay, your day sounds horrible, my worst nightmare would be a desk job. ;)

Day 132. 50mm Week/Day 3.

Fly Away Now Sucker!!!

Meeting went ok!! My new boss is South African not German. Brown Bread White Bread??

Was stuck in the office from 1 o'clock, so didn't get a chance to take anything else of substance. This was shot with the 50mm and the extension tubes.

I kill you!!!

Glad your news was good ;)

nice detail on the eyes, fly killer :)

News wasn't bad Julian, which was all that we were expecting. It's just even more pressure heaped on my department to try and make more money. :(

Glad the meeting went OK. That fly looks like it could do with a drink. ;)

Cheers Marc, I had a beer in hand does that count?

Day 133. 50mm Week/Day 4 (I miss my siggy!!)

Busy again, no meetings today thankfully. My urbex bug bit quite heavily this afternoon. This is a abandoned water service pumping station, will remain nameless until access has been achieved, I think I have a way in. I was actually working near here on another NI water site.

We shall not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time-TS Eliot

365/09 134 50mm Week/Day 5. I WANT MY SIGGY BACK!!!!!!

006copy__copy2-1.jpg

A very irritable and annoying day, how my company ever made money is beyond me. I swear, a chicken wearing a monkey suit trying to force feed opal fruits to a kestrel could do a better job!! What was so annoying was my boss, let's call him "BOB", took my work laptop off me last week because and I quote, "You, don't use it enough." How many times have I needed it?? And to make matters worse the fool lost it!! *Rant over*

This was taken in a large factory estate, I used to love it around here, but they are slowly but surely tearing the whole site down. It was called Courtaulds, the main building is still there, and yes I am in talks about getting inside!! There are about 60 of these hydrants around the site. This was my idea for this months competition, I am going to photograph all of them and merge them into one photo. Any good??

haha funny story about your laptop and boss :D

The site sounds really interesting, so I'm a little surprised that you went for a shot of hydrant, I wanna see these cool urbex sites you visit :geek:

Some interesting texture and colours on the hydrant, I tighter crop may have made it stand out more.

At least it is your boss that looses them, I am terrible with my laptops - in the first three years at this company I went through about 5 of them. Since then I have been much more careful.

These sites do sound interesting - I am not sure what the swiss police would think of it though. They are not very understanding at the best of times :)

I'm sure the law over in Switzerland is completely different to here, I always try to get permission, just so there is no comeback at all. :)

Beginning to not really miss the sigma as much!! It was raining here and if the sigma had been on the camera I would have had to walk another 30ft to get the same shot. Not a bad day work wise, was busy enough. The weather really spoilt a lot of shots. :( I've found another urbex site as well, an abandoned PBNI building in Ballycastle. I might upload a few shots later of it. (Idea of twisty path shot stolen from Julian. :p)

Look new toy!! Was sorely tempted between this and the sb600, glad I went for this one. Better to get the best you can while you can. Batteries are on charge, now to learn how to use the thing!!

Is it sad that the first thing I did with it is bunged it in the lightbox and took a few pictures of it??

Not sad at all.
I'd like to see a shot of it mounted on the D40 :D

Thats a great looking building, did you get inside (silly question I know)

Nice flash (Hmm sounds rude)

It's even ruder when you learn that you can make it remotely flash by pressing it's button. ;)

I've been inside the building before, it's really just a bare shell. It was absolutely tipping it down, so I made a quick exit across the field for the van.

I found some history of the building if anyone's interested.

Day 137

DSC_7638.jpg

Nice wee normal Sunday! Went off to re-explore the animal testing laboratory that I was at last Saturday. Spent a lot of time last night getting used to the flash and firing it remotely, I still haven't mastered lighting certain sections and found that the power of the flash greatly affected the shot. I did try this same shot with the flash further forward, but found that I couldn't get the power setting right. It either left a great big over exposed section on the wall, or was to dark.

A few more can be seen HERE.

Day 138.

Another rare day off work sick. I have aching joints, sore throat and a mother of a migraine. I lay in bed all day and think that I've slept off the worst of it. Only problem now is that I'm wide awake!! Back to work tomorrow.

Strobist info: Flash fired remotely from above at 1/128 power. More for my own records than anything else.

Oh look, over 1000 posts!!
