JD's 365.

Day 80. I'm on the ball today aren't I!!!

Up early to take my granny shopping, she's a nightmare. Since I'll be busy tomorrow I got my mum her mothers day present today. Yes it was the clichéd bunch of flowers and box of chocolate. Had a lunch and then came home to watch the rugby with a beer!! Come on Scotland and Ireland!!

So Happy Mothers day to all the Mammys for tomorrow!

some lovely shots in here JD, I love the minaturising effect on the second shot, am going to be reading up on this, so thanks for the linky :)

Day 081 Mill Chimney Standing Tall.

Another fantastic day exploring, I was undecided what to do today, but my mate Pete finally talked me into an explore. This was an addition to our "Mill Addiction" and was quite unbelievable inside!! We made it to a hospital in Belfast as well, overall an excellent day!!

The D90 with the grip feels really good in my hand, such a good purchase. The high ISO was well tested today and it came up trumps. Only one downer though, my tripod has seen better days. I've ordered a Manfrotto 322RC2 Ball Head and a set of Manfrotto legs.

Nice lines, mill looks really interesting, would like to see some closer shots. You and Dave keep using your wide angle lenses, going to need to get one myself one day.

Thanks mate, I intentionally shot it like this to try and generate some mystery about the mill. The only thing about the 10-20 Sigma is that I constantly use the 10mm end, which to be honest has some fringing issues. I should be sticking some mill shots on my Flickr later if your really interested!!

I like the composition to this, and the sky looks great

Sounds like you had a good day :)

Day 082

Was it just me or was today a lot longer and more boring than usual?? I drove for 5 hours today so I'm dog tired. Was called from Belfast to Donegal which is the opposite side of the country. Then had a 3 hour drive home. Thought it would be fitting to take a photo of the view I enjoyed all day. This is around Coleraine direction on the way home.

Funny had a similar thought today, felt like a really boring day that lacked inspiration for me (although my situation at work is probably affecting me more than I admit).

Hope you weren't driving at the time ;)

It's affecting me as well mate, I seem to be just going through the motions of being at work.:( We find out this week who is being made redundant. And of course I wasn't driving!!;)

Day 83. Dunfanaghy Co.Donegal. Again!!

Another portion of my day spent in Co.Donegal. I had planned to spend the whole day here but the "hitlers" in work had other ideas, ended up having to drive to Ballymena for a fault call. One day I'll get more than one picture!! If this doesn't look as wide as it could it's because I decided to give the kit 18-105 lens a go. Was quite impressed, it would make a good walkabout lens.

Day 084 Cancer Stick.

My macro extension tubes arrived today, requires the camera to be used completely in manual. I think this was at f/4. It means really narrow DOF, which is hard to work with. I must have taken well over 100 shots of random things around the house.

I've attempted to give up a few times, my most successful was 6 months about a year ago. I could save a fortune if I gave up, would mean a lot more camera goodies, but I just like smoking too much!!

Interesting idea, another angle would be to get all the ends lined up (say in the top of a packet of 20), with all the ends in the same focus plane it could look interesting too (what am I going on about :cuckoo:)

Cheers, it was really what was in the ashtray. I'll maybe try that idea later, but I think I have too much magnification with the tubes and the nifty. I could always use less I suppose.

Step away from the cigs JD! :nono: :D I gave up almost 4 years ago and was amazed how much better my breathing was after only a couple of weeks!

I quit for 6 months once, I just ate more to suppress the craving and put nearly 2 stone of weight on. I will definitely try again but this time I'm going to try exercise.

Day 85 The Camera That Started It All

First day holiday, slept in until 9, woke up in a panic thinking I'd slept in! I've really enjoyed my day so far, I went to Asda for ingredients for a broth I'd been wanting to make for ages. It had tomatoes, carrots, lentils, vegetable stock, spinach leaves and pepper pesto in it. Very scrumptious if I do say so myself! I also decided to make a light box, which you can see in the other picture. This is the camera that started my obsession, just 10 months ago. The light box worked very well, very pleased with the result.

Way too much time on my hands today!!!

Ooo light box, was thinking of creating my own too at some point. Nice shot although it looks like the light was a tad harsh, just on the right edge of the D40 badge.

And also . . . was today the day you found out about your job?
