I like this picture. I should visit Belfast again; I was there for a job interview a few years ago and meant to spend all day there, but missed the first flight so only ended up being there a few hours.
 
Cheers, 10mm Fabs. The Sigma 10-20 has quite a bit of lens distortion at 10mm but I've learnt to live with it. I have noticed a change since upgrading to the d90. There is hardly and blue hazy fringing any more, the d40 was terrible for it, caused me loads more time processing!!

EXIF: 1/4000sec f4 10mm ISO 200 For some reason Flickr links don't show EXIF??

Just catching up JD loving the lanscapes, you lucky git wish I could pass views like those on my work days :lol:. Belfast city hall is a very nice shot bet you could get some nice shots from the top of the wheel too.

Like the shot of Belfast City Hall. The Big Wheel helps to give the building some scale :thumbs:

Day 074


EXIF: 1/30 F36 ISO 400 135mm

Was at a Trackday at Kirkistown from 1030 until 1600. It's only the second time I've attempted motorsport and a really good opportunity to see just what the d90 could do. Was with a mate Pete, who's been lurking on here for ages and is too scared to post up a new member thread!! Come on Pete they don't bite!! (Fabs might!) :p

I didn't really fiddle much with the camera, I used centre weighted metering, af-c focus, dynamic focus area and shutter priority. I only realised after filling a 4gb card that I should have been moving the focus point around to make better use of framing the cars in the picture. In total I took 624 pictures!! :eek: My hit rate wasn't that good, I had a quick look with bridge and picked out a few ones I liked. 1/60 to 1/40 was about an average shutter speed today.
 
Day 075 Rachel's Eye.



I've had a really busy weekend, I've spent the majority of it processing pictures from the trackday and flickr meet, 600+ shots are time consuming to sort through. My sister has also been visiting, we went for a meal last night, I got drunk. She goes back to Edinburgh tonight so I called round to see her before she went. She doesn't like having her picture taken so I put the 70-300 at 300mm where I thought she would pop her head round the pillow. It sort of works but I missed the focus on her face/eye.

As you say, shame you did not get the focus on the eye, but taking these kind of shots is really tough (same with my two little girls). I like the contrasting colours from what must be pillows too.

Track day shot looks good too, not tried this kind of subject, but I have it to do later on in the year (Thruxton is just down the road, not sure if it has BTCC rounds still?).

I'm not sure either mate, I found that what I changed worked. It's about the only advice I can give. I found the d90 a joy to hold but my arms are killing me today. I enjoyed the trackday soo much that I went and bought a grip and new battery today!!
 
Day 076 I can't find my..



I was meant to go fishing today, I actually really enjoy it. I hunted everywhere for my rod and hooks etc but for the life of me couldn't find it. I did check the cupboard to the right, not in there. I had another 3 layers on this but couldn't get the mask to work properly. I really need a tutorial, I did all of this through brain power!!​
 
hey, cool, I've had an idea to do one of these multi layer shots for some time now, must get around to doing it.
 
I've got an idea for a composite shot of the girls, but still need to master the technique. Looks like you've got it mostly sussed with that one :thumbs:

I didn't really!! But cheers! I had another 3 of me, but couldn't get the layers right. I've been hunting on here for ages to try and find a tutorial I followed ages ago that was very well explained. It was someone sat round a kitchen table, but I can't find it.:(
 
Day 077 Enniskillen Castle. Hi Stephen :wave:



Such a lovely day it was a real shame I was working. Spent the day driving from Cookstown to Omagh and then Enniskillen, working in each town. I feel a bit sunburnt. Hopefully I can even out the tan and don't end up "van man tan" again.
 
Nice shot, notice there is some interesting lichens on the wall by the water, crouching down low (filling the frame with more of the wall, and less sky) may have also produced an interesting angle.
 
Good picture JD, nice composition. It probably doesn't get photographed from there very often :)
 
Hey I recognised that place, I think I've photographed it the odd time.

You where at most 500m away from me at that point! The EXIF says 4:08pm, I was actually gonna go take photos down by the castle at that time but decided not to despite the nice day because I was actually too lazy to move.

Cheers Stephen, I was in a bit of a rush as I had another job to get to, but I remember someone on the park benches was having a right good stare!! Was that you?? Or have people in Enniskillen not seen many DSLR's before?? ;)
 
Day 078 Sunset Over The Park



Feel very chilled tonight, might have something to do with the 3 beers that I have already consumed since I got home. I sat at the front door, drank a beer and watched the sun disappear. Ahh, Bliss!!!

I've also realised again how much I love my 50mm. It's really sharp the whole way through the aperture. This was 1/125 f5.6
 
Nah it wasn't me, I was at my house at the time!
 
Day 079 Derry City.



Was another corker of a day, spent it flirting with the hotel staff where I was working. :naughty: Went from Derry to Strabane and spent the rest of the day there. I can't decide between the original or a tilt shift one. What do you think??:thinking:

 
Agree with Fabs, although it could be intersting to try a vertical in focus section following the road.
