Team Japspeed BDC Driver 'Baggsy's' 1JZ engined Subaru Impreza was stolen from the Performance Vauxhall Show at Santa Pod at around 1900hrs yesterday. For anyone who has never seen the vehicle:

The car was spotted at around 1945hrs on the M25 near Heathrow Click here for Youtube video

Last confirmed sighting of the car was at 2100hrs at Wolf Lane/Park Corner in Windsor. Lots of unconfirmed sightings since but most seem to be attention-seeking kids. The car is not road-legal, but is apparently now wearing false plates; it's a full-on race car so should be easily distinguishable from a normal Impreza. Any sightings or information should either be reported to Police, Team Japspeed themselves, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Stolen? How? (apart from a statement of the bloomin' obvious involving some scrote climbing in, pushing the start button and driving it away) No site security? No proud owner with the key in his pocket? No immobiliser?

Been following this on Driftworks, it's ridiculous. Just got to hope that the idiots get caught now. Apparently there was no security on site at Santa Pod to stop them simply driving it out of there.

its a drift car and should be running slicks as well so i wouldnt fancy getting pulled over in it
allegedly has a very small fuel cell and does 3mpg so should be stopping every 20 miles or so

That has got to be really embarrassing, No security. it must be worth 80k

Never been to santa pod but looks like it did not have to go through a barrier to get out so even if security was there what are they expected to do??

Looks like an open pit so anyone can just walk around and jump in and drive off. obviously at a quiet time when no one was around.

Lovely car, I had a scooby and it was standard and bloomin quick let alone one tuned up like that.

It will either be in a field burnt out as it had ran out of juice or stripped and the parts sold for a couple of quid for the next fix.

I brought a car like that this morning for £1000. I joke. But i mean a car like that can't just disappear lol.

apparently been spotted in kent now and japspeed are offering a substantial reward

Id like a car like that tho. Not modified to that standards tho for reason why this topic was created lol

cars like this (racing cars and other rare and classic cars etc) are generally stolen to order, and usually either already sold on, or stripped for bits that people already want, you couldnt just sell this on as it is.

Nice publicity stunt! But seriously, hope they get it back real soon

That is one sweet car I would love to drive it. Can't believe that as it was seen and filmed driving down the m25 that the police didnt find it there and then. Would guess that its stolen to order - the parts on that thing are worth a bomb.

To shed a little more light, via SXOC:

well, i've just got home from PVS, absolutely gutted about this!!

i can shed a little more light on the situation from the santa pod end...

as the owner and organiser for the Vauxhall Bertone Owners Club, this year, i (along with all the other owners and organisers from every stand) were invited to the VIP room for a drink with the event organisers at it was PVS's 10th birthday...

most of the guys went after an hour ish my and my mate stayed for a while... we were chatting to the total vauxhall magazine guys, the event organisers, and as most of the owners had gone, the VIPs started coming in to relax, one of which was baggsy, the driver of the scooby. the event organiser introduced us to him after he said he was more of a jap guy than vauxhall, and having an S14a, i agreed with him, so we got talking to baggsy... it was about 8 in the evening at this time, about 20mins AFTER the footage was taken of it driving on the M25... at this stage of the evening, the driver nor the maxxis team had any idea it was even stolen!

walking back to our club area, we saw there was only the S15 on show, but knowing they were doing demos we assumed the car had been left in the stunt arena

we found out today that it had been stolen and taken out of pod about half 6

they had to open the bonnet, re-connect the battery, prime it, start it and then drive off in it...

now, if you saw this happening, you'd assume the guy ding it was MEANT to be doing it, surely!? anyone can buy a japspeed hoody and not look out of place there (i have no idea if this was the case, just a for-instance)

it then (apparently) got driven straight out of the main gates, past the camping areas, and not at high speed, plenty of people saw it, so the time it was taken got discovered very quickly, but no one questioned it moving around pod, cos it had been doing that all day anyway...

according to the maxxis guy i spoke to, the first they knew of it being stolen was the driver coming back to the trailer at about half 9 and asking where the hell his car was! they thought at first it had been moved as a practical joke by one of the other drivers, but soon realised it wasn't when they asked pod staff over the radio where it was, and security said they saw it leave about half 6...

why pod security didn't stop it i have no idea, the event was still letting people in and out for camping at the time, so there were people around, and they MUST know a car like that is only ever trailered in and out of shows!?

anyway, that's all i know, i realise it's in no way helpful as far as finding the thing, but sheds a little more light on the circumstances...

i hope this thing gets found!!

Most of the parts on the car are custom, so it would be interesting to know if the thieves could even break it!

Doesn't it have a tracker or similar on it??

Looking like you're meant to be doing something ie completely brazen is often the best way to steal things.

Thieves will have no trouble breaking it. Assuming it is intended for breaking at all and not going into a crate to go abroad. It could easily be already on a ship before anyone noticed it was gone. Dover isn't that far away. 3 mpg might be the greatest challenge so I'd have assumed they'd have driven it off and stuck it on a trailer or inside a truck as soon as they could.

I expect with it being race spec and not road legal things like trackers and immobilisers are not installed/removed to save weight.

I bet Japspeed are not happy with the sigte organisers, although surely loads of people go photos of the thing driving off the site? Some with the driver maybe?

And I'd been wondering how it came to be filmed on the motorway: was someone just driving along with their phone cam running and thought hello what's this pretty thing ripping up the road behind me?

Pretty much I expect, it is a little on the dangerous side unless the passenger films it, but it happens all the time just see You Tube lol.

Probably nicked by those knitted dolls from the adverts.:)

since the back end had parts missing, looks like possibly trying to break it down too!

lol! I thought they only drove Vauxhalls?

It was a Vauxhall show. I'm sure they had those damned dolls there somewhere.
They would want to get it removed:)

luckily they didn't start stripping the front end, thieving scrotes.

Good to see they got it back relatively in one piece :)

Good to hear they got it back with no major damage. Tense few days for the team
