It must be stunning to go up in that ** plane.

.........(didn't allow that) so I'll have to say the 'You Two' plane.

Thanks for posting Phil - Have just watched it for the first time and I must say it was an excellent production. I wasn't a James May fan before but it's kind of changed my mind.

James May is a great presenter but he often gets tarred with the same brush as the other two on Top Gear (especially that tall idiot). The programmes he does on his own a very good.

Steve.

how do you find the soundtrack info to TV shows? I'd like to be able to find that sort of info for other progs too.

Glad to hear a few folk watched and enjoyed it - I missed it 1st time around.

It's on the sky plus box waiting to be watched when I have a spare hour. Glad everyone else seems as enthusiastic about it as my Dad was last night

it was brilliant. totally hate him for going up in that plane i would love to have done that!

yup, really good. I really enjoyed it. I also like his other little programs, very well presented and considered.

One thing I was wondering about his U-2 flight.

I understand the need for the space suit at those altitudes but could a cock-pit be pressurised instead ?

Is it due to the age of the design ?

and weight a lot more involved to pressurise a plane

also normal pressurisation systems are massively wasteful a jumbo is actually +ve pressure and bleeds air the whole time but weight isn't a factor there

Thanks for that.

I also thought that the need to eject may be a factor ???

Maybe, however they were not standard space suits, and so may not have the same insulating properties. As a result, ejecting, at least that that altitude, will cause him to freeze. I am of course assuming a lot here, so really, I'm not 100% sure. Perhaps there is a altitude limit for ejection?

dunno about limit but didn't an f4 pilot set the record, ejected above a thunderstorm :S I read his account was amazing really
