Daily Jake's 365 Challenge

Day 169

169/365 by JRTurnerPhotography, on Flickr

A Common Bumblebee about to land on lavender in our garden. We only have a small amount of lavender, but we always have bees on it, up to 5 a time.

I have designed a new signature watermark for the corner of my images, tried to make it a bit more professional and added my web address. Any views on it? Also, if anyone has time, can you please look at my website and give me any feedback you have? It's a work in progress currently.

Hi, Jake

Some really great photos since I was here last (going back just a page or so as still a lot of catching up to do!) -

I love your first Damselfly, nice and vivid with great detail.

The meet with Matt and Darryl looks like it was a great success!

Kind of agree about the OOF on the Lulworth Cove shot - the top part (leaving out the grass etc at the front) reminds me of the old 70's postcards we still find on holiday somehow...the colours and the slightly blurred look! :D

West Woods is a lovely photo - we were very lucky on holiday and saw entire patches of hillside covered with bluebells - never seen that before and got very excited!

I also love the ballet shot - really nice work! Also really like the red rose. That photo with the horse...as the top of the building is already chopped off and the sky is so nasty, I might have cropped the top a little more?

Giraffe is great and, sadly, you won't have that kitten for long...but rest assured, when I come and kittynap him, he will have a lovely home! :naughty::lol:

Hello there Sam! Missed you :p

Thank you for taking the time to go back a bit on my photos, your critique is always gratefully received. I hope your staying on the forum, and I will see your photos coming up on here and flickr!

So great shots since my last pop in...I do find your watermark quite distracting though....can't you just upload low-res versions of photos you think people might steal?

Thanks Jeff. I could, but it's easier for me to just whack the watermark accross the centre. Saves me having loads of files on my HD the same. I have toned it down a bit on more recent photos.

Great take on the giraffes!

Thank you very much! I will find your thread now and have a look through.

Great set of recent images. The giraffe is definitely a standout (perfect composition!) but the kitten is super cute too! The lab shot looks a bit warm to me, but maybe it was that time of day...

Thanks Tim :) I think I warmed it up a tad, as it wasn't looking good cold.

Archie in 174 looks so cute! Like the position of his paw.

Thanks Michael, someone on flickr said he looks like the opening scene of a James Bond film.

Daisy works well for me and you can so see that Archie has his eye on you

Is that the leaning Windmill of Wilton - or does it need straightening a touch?

It may need a slight straighten. I did straighten the image in line with the way the land fell, so it could be slightly leaning.

Aww, i love your cat portraits (you can never have too many cat pictures) and that bird house looks brilliant! It'll be nice to watch them flying in and out of there.

Can't help with the ID i'm afraid but as far as purple flowers go, these look very nice to me!

Gotta love a good otter pic, and you've managed to cram so many in! Great family portrait ;)

Thanks Tim! :) Otters are so cute! This was all of them, after a quick dip. They make so much noise though!

wow! stunning sky, you've got some right colours going on in there! Great compo too

Thanks Tim! :) Another one of those sunsets that never happens.

Stunning, did you use a flash? The foreground looks well lit?

Thanks Robert! :) I didn't use flash, I don't have one :D I pushed the exposure in camera to brighten things up a bit.

Oh, I just love the otters - you were very lucky to get them all in there and behaving so well :)

Love the colours in the sky on your sunset - not over dramatic, but most pleasing.
