I've got a Merc at the moment, although was a close call between that and an XF. All I can say about the XE is that it's on my shortlist for the next car.
 
Will be interesting to see what is said about this as I am looking to change cars & this is a possibility
 
Seen one last night actually, the sporty spec it was in black with black trim and I had to say it's the first time I've ever truly loved a black car, it looked evil and quick even parked up...but I am a self confessed lover of the products from JLR, in recent years they really do seem to be getting a handle on reliability too
 
Seen the cars with the optional 'black pack' (black window surrounds etc) & its a must have
 
XF is great, even the 2.2 goes quite well - the 3l goes even better. Not yet taken an XE out for a test drive but the sales staff were all looking forward to it being in stock.
 
I saw an XE in the metal and it looked awful to my eyes, like the back and front were designed by 2 different teams and a 3rd team stuck it together, I was gutted - the front looked great.

Methinks the 3 series and A4 haven't got much to worry about but this is just my opinion.
 
Get the f type and leave the kids at home! ;)
 
Straights are too short in the UK so get the Jag and enjoy the corners...

Got an F30 330d x-drive msport at the moment but the high powered 2.0 XE caught my eye, slightly higher emissions but lower list price. Do love the bmw though so would need to be special. Looking at 2 1/2 years down the line anyway.

Many new ones will come out till then. The new A4 is very attractive. Anyway enjoy what you have - many of us would "kill" for that.
