I feel sad for her family but as for how she became well known is not important to me.

I was just reading about Jane to refresh my memory.

There are similarities, you are quite right.

Both were vilified by sections of the public and the press, one for doing too much and taking too long to die, the other for doing too little in the short time that she had.

Both seem to have taken their diagnosis as a time to do more of what they were good at.

The biggest difference between them seems to be the time they had available after diagnosis.

The only thing that makes me sick about this is the reaction of the idiots who completely miss the fact that celebrities are real people and have no qualms about criticising the recently deceased after a premature death.

Not sure how he can say it's road legal...very obviously isn't...and I'm not so sure about promises to donate half the money to hert kids either.

As for Jade, I'm a bit reluctant to pass comment, but here goes: What's happened is tragic and I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone. Every relative I've lost has been through cancer, and I know too well the devastating impact it can have on peoples lives. That said I'm already sick of hearing phrases like 'the nation mourns' etc. I didn't like her at all, and I still struggle to fathom why it was she was such a celbrity, and why she had such a following. And also how she can be described as a 'positive role model'. Flame away those of you that want, I don't care.

On the contrary, for me it's not about criticising at all. I just didn't have the time of day for her or the attached publicity machine whilst she was alive. To have the time of day for her in death would be hypocritical of me. Why should her death compel me to change my opinion? It shouldn't, and nor does my stance warrant have mud slung at me or people like me (not that it was in this instance).

At the end of the day, regardless of how you feel about her, it should be remembered it was Jade driving the publicity and putting herself in the public eye where she knew she would attract comments good and bad. This was highlighted only too well when on the day of her death her family asked for their privacy to be observed and to be left alone.

Now would you care to explain why I should be labelled an idiot because of the views I hold on this topic? Or would you just like to assume i'm thinking you're also an idiot for posting what you did? ;)

What it really comes down to is we all have a different take on this subject and all views are equally valid. None is better or worse, just different! :)

If that's the case then it would appear he wasn't talking about you. Though it doesn't seem unreasonable to ponder on why, if you didn't have time for any of this you found time to contribute at all.

Views expressed politely and without vitriol are equally valid, those that seethe and rage and spew out bile on the subject would appear to be rather less valid, whichever direction they go in.

The strangest thing about all this is the way some people claim that they were indifferent to her but clearly find time to read so much about it in order to be offended so much. She was easy enough to avoid, TVs have an off button, newspapers require some involvement to read them, they don't take over your brain and force information in.

It is hard to avoid the conclusion that all this rage is really brought about by jealousy, "why should she get all this money for no reason when I have to work for it?" sort of thing.

That's life, get over it, people spending too long seething over what they haven't got won't enjoy what they have.

Of course, none of this applies to you, apparently you didn't know who she was.

You are absolutely entitled to your views, of course, I have no problem with that. I take issue with the fact that people feel the need to post them at this time. I never called you personally an idiot but I think you´ve done a pretty good job of proving yourself to be one with your post.

My opinion is this:

If you dont have anything nice to say, Dont say anything at all
 
It's a very sad loss for her boys and family etc

There are thousands of cancer sufferers out there who fight this horrible disease and get on with their lives as best they can - Jade fought the disease in her own unique way, mostly in the public eye.

To be totally honest, I have more respect and admiration for people like Jane Tomlinson who raised more than a millions pounds for cancer charities before she lost her battle with cancer, and her family are continuing the fantastic work she did.

Not as easy as you might think. She was everywhere. Granted, I did manage to avoid the bulk of her diatribe but i still couldn't avoid it all unless I chose to live in a cave. :lol:

The reality is Jade Goody was a very devisive person and it would seem the younger you are the more likely you are to see her in a positive light (according to BBC surveys and statistics).

Marcel, as I said before you posted I'm done with it now. It sounded patronising to me because I never criticised anyone's opinion, but merely questioned whether it is really an appropriate time to air it. I hope that's clear now.
