Jacobs Online vs Camerabox

Just though I would leave some feedback on the above Online stores having just kitted myself out with my 1st DSLR setup.

Camerabox - I can't fault them. I ordered a Nikkor 70-300 VR AF-S lens from then at 14:45 on a Thursday afternoon. I received a phone call at 17:00 to confirm the address and received the lens at 09:45 the next day. Excellent service and great prices.

Jacobs - So far, not so good. I order a Tamron 90mm and Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW last Wednesday on their standard delivery option which at £7.99 isn't cheap. I waited until today to ring them to find out what was happening with the order as I hadn't had any information beyond the first confirmation email. The lady on the end of the phone informed me that the order order the due to be picked from the warehouse in the next 2 - 3 days and 'should' be dispatched this week.

Now I aren't in any rush for the lens or bag, though I would like 'em sooner rather than later. While their prices were good their turn around time is appalling. I think there lagging a little behind the times when it come to there online service. Don't think I'll be using them again if I can get the same product elsewhere.

Have to agree about Jacobs. They advertise what they dont have in stock and dont tell you. When you ask for an ETA they fob you off until such a point that you cancel.....well thats what I did and went elsewhere.

Cant say I will use them again unless desperate.

Additional comments on the Jacobs site.

I rang Jacobs again this morning, bear in mind I spoke to them last night and was told that the camera would be despatched in the next few days as it was currently being picked at the warehouse. Today it would appear that was all B.S!! The Tarmon lens is on back order even though, and this is classic, they have stock within the company but my order hasn't been in long enough to be allocated any of it.

I then asked how long it would be to be told "could be 7 - 14 days but I aren't sure". Holy hells teeth how do these people keep going, a lot of companies offer same day depatch on orders upto 17:00 and these guys can't even manage one week or more and don't even bother to tell you.

I would have liked the bag for the weekend 'cos I'm going away but I wasn't willing the give them any time at this point.

Order cancelled !

Avoid Jacobs online at all costs !
