Hi,

I am still looking for my 1st DSLR, I hope it's OK to ask a question about a specific store - no doubt this will be deleted if it isn't.

I wondered what people thought about the Jacobs Digital & their Lens Voucher scheme:

Are the vouchers any good for:

The equipment on the list?
&
For the saving you make?

Does that mean NOBODY uses this voucher scheme?

what exactly is this scheme?

I've never used it but they mentioned it when I spoke to them about buying a new DSLR.

The salesman said that when I but my equipment, depending on the value, I will also get a number of vouchers I can use in the future where I will get some discount off the iterms on the list, e.g. £50 off a Lens.

Wanted to know if anybody else had seen the scheme and their opinion whether the equipment offered in the scheme was any good.

Sorry it's a little vague, I'll call them to get a proper example.

Sounds like one of those "buy this, get money off this" offers you get with various electronic items. Without knowing what exactly is discounted and by how much it's rather difficult to judge though.

OK got examples: for Nikon Scheme

Valid for 6 months, rotating every month.

If you buy a D7000 105 kit for £1180 the vouchers include:
£100 of 10mm-24mm which retails at £630
£50 70mm-300mm retails at £400

Only good, if a) you are getting a good deal on the kit b) you intend to buy any of the Lens' on offer & c) if the discounted price of said Lens' are comparable. Pointless if they give £100 off when they charge £100 more in the first place!

So what is the question again? Jacobs are a highly reputable retailer, and if they give you a voucher then I'm sure they'll honour it.

£1180 is a decent price for the camera and lens.

£530 for the 10-24 and £350 for the 70-300 would be excellent prices which you wouldn't be able to match or beat anywhere else.

You can always check equipment prices at Camera Price Buster.
