Jacobs auction- M7 anyone?

Still no listings for days 3 and 4. Was hoping for some Sigma goodness, the other thread on this auction seems to suggest Canon and Nikon stuff went straight back.

Just had a look and day 3 are there now. Looks like there may be some bargains to be had.

as long as we don't tell anyone... darn it! :bang:

is there a way to search the lots?

need some lighting kit! and anything bronica!

Doesn't look like it and it seems you will have to go to Leicester to pick up your lots.

The M7 is currently at £375 and a M9 at £1850 with 7 days to go! But some lens (inc 50mm Summa something) still no bids...

(Leica stuff in "day 2"... if you click through from an item to "Place bid" you can see the current high bids for ALL lots in that sale.)

There IS some Canon and Nikon stuff in the auction.

Day 3 Lots 1315 onwards is what I can find at the moment.

Well I'm not gonna shout about what I'm bidding on, but I'm the high bidder on one item on day one at my absolute maximum - I hope this stuff doesn't go for crazy prices. I only stand to save £100 over new items

I know what you mean, Chris, it's early days. My guess is, make a note of end time and do a quick bargain search shortly before. I suspect much will go to dealers etc.

how do you see the current bids? do you have to register for it? Id love a 70-200 2.8 on the cheap :D

*edit* ahh read the thread , can see them now

I remember the big Jessops sales a few years back, i popped into the oxford street store to see what they had only to be told someone turned up and brought everything on their CC. So a large bit of lot camping will be required for some of this stuff.

I'm bidding on a few items but I'm not going to go silly, all items I'm bidding on are stuff I want to own but I'm not in a rush to own so I have my limits if it passes them that's me done

An interesting question would be what will happen if the reserve is not met?

do they have reserves in liquidations? I thought they just got what they could.

Same guy cleared almost all of the Jessops' shops up and down the country of most of their stuff. I forget his name, Darius something, iirc. I think, from what I remember he had very deep pockets and was exporting the stuff, so there may well be few bargains if he's bidding on this lot....

if your bidding don't forget the vat and auction fees you have to add

if your bidding don't forget the vat and auction fees you have to add

I've not forgot them ;) or that fact that you have to go and pick the it up from the location of the sale which as it's only about 20 minutes from me is not a issue

the canon stuff is really old in places but also there are many lots which are canon/nikon compatible sigma kit
some of it high end too

if your bidding don't forget the vat and auction fees you have to add

So the bid has to be about 30%+ UNDER shop/Amazon price to save money! Considering some of this is quite dated and how new stuff gets discounted, we've obviously got to do our homework!

Yep, my max bid on one of the items is 17% less than Amazon price. (After VAT/fees).

I'm looking at 2 other lenses as well, so if I win all 3, its not too much trouble to drive from Doncaster the Leicester. The annoying this is its bank transfer for payment...

Edit:from the post above, my bid is 40% below amazon price before commission and vat

day 4 is up, seems a good day if you want a carbon fibre tripod.

I've just bought an ex-display Manfrotto 732, for a better price than I think some of these will go for, judging by some day 3 prices so far.

There are 3 lots (2021, 2022, 2023) which might be of interest. All Ilford stuff, paper, fixer and developer and film and a lot of it. Just wondering whether it might be an idea to club together to try and get it and split it between us. Any thoughts?

That's probably the only type of stuff that there will be the chance of getting at a decent price....

Why would anyone want to buy 720 JACOBS bag for life carrier bags?

Someone bought a huge pile of Jessops baseball caps when they were having their "trouble" - listed them on Ebay

I know  there are some really random things in there, I've got a few things that I'm watching and bidding on, and I've got my table with Bid, and Fee and VAT inc price :D so I can look at prices, I've just been out bit on one item to the point that I suspect they've placed the winning bit as if anyone bid's again they'll be stupid as they will be getting it for about £10 below the best online price, and you've still gotta go and get it :suspect:

I don't particular mind paying a decent price would never expect to get something work a few hundred for pennies but I'm not going to go silly :cuckoo:

Blimey Matt 15,000 posts, you want to get out more.....:D

I wouldn't worry about that, nothing is going to sell for a silly low price, they've got reserves on everything and there's still the physical auction to go after the online one ends. All you're effectively doing by bidding online is bumping up the opening prices at that.....

I think the worrying thing is I spotted one lens that has already been bid up to the point that with fee's it cost is over the best online new price by about £100 :cuckoo:

Um, I didn't know that! Would that be for all the stock or just that which has not met its reserve?

Edit: On re-reading their t&cs it looks as if this is an online auction only, but one set up to auto-extend if there is a bid within the last 10 minutes, so no nipping in with a cheeky wee bid right at the end to snipe it....

good luck to anyone at the physical auction bidding on things i'm watching, most stuff I am looking at is about 10% under Amazon price!

Well, the auction was finishing while we were away so in the end I didn't bid for anything... and the story about bidding online to be outbid on the day seemed too weird.

But, did anyone here get anything out of the auction? (Maybe this is the wrong place to ask, as 99% of it was that fancy digeri stuff...)
