I sometimes write down how many page views I have had from the stats page on my site......

8 am this morning was 29687 just checked now and its at 40900, that is some traffic in a day, can't wait for Google analytics to update and see where it is all coming from !

In the meantime, beers are on me !
 
did you post your site on here? that has helped my stats in the past lol.....could be search bots from google etc??

Its in my sig but have never had that many hits in a day, just going through the stats on my site but don't really have anything to go on, obviously wedding gallery has had a few from but 10k ??? Thats silly !

Remember hits is not visitors, for example a site with 1 page and 30 images will result in 31 hits per visits. 10 pages browsed and 30 images per page will be 300 hits etc...

Still impressive :D

Well every photo will be normally:

1 thumbnail view
1 full size view
1 full size HTML page view
X number of other items across all pages...

So if you have a site which is made up of say 10 images for page layout, and you get a visitor who clicks through 30 pages, you would have at least 300 hits not including your thumbnails (another 10 or so per gallery page), and each image, another 20 or 30?

Just an example of how hits can really climb!!

Yup!

I did an event at Aintree equestrian centre. Took approx 20k photographs during the day (across 4 togs).

That week we had more than 1million hits :lol:

And it stayed up in the 800k, 600k, 400k region for months after it!! :woot::woot::woot:

Wish each one was sold though!!
 
Ahh, OK I am understanding it a bit better, when the analytics update I will see what the craic is currently 33.77 % is direct traffic rest is from referals such as Talk and other forums I use.
