Hi,

I've got an Ixus 75 which I've had for a few months now.

The problem is that not very many of the photographs are really sharp.

I've tried fully Auto and various different focus modes.

Still the pictures are not sharp.

I was wondering if I need to adjust some settings.

I've read many reviews on this camera and they are all very good.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks..

OK I am going to ask a very simple question here. How are you using your Ixus 75? Are you just pressing the shutter button fully? Or are you half depressing, waiting for the beep and then taking the shot?

I press the button halfway, get the green light and a focus lock and then I press the button the rest of the way to take the photograph.

Any Ixus should be giving you sharp enough photos. Could be that you are moving when you take them. Alternatively try using the scene settings - if the subject is moving use "sports" mode for example.

OK. I asked the question as when I first got my Ixus 40 a few years back I was just pressing the button rather than the half press.

Are most of your shots indoors / outdoors? Flash on / off? Can you post a shot that you did with Auto?

You will need to upload a shot online and link to it. See FAQ here...

Mostly outdoors pictures. Flash on and off.

I've took many photos with different cameras and they have been fine.

It just seems to be this camera that is the problem.

Hmmmm... Looks to my eyes like lens blur rather than camera shake, anyone agree? No EXIF attached so I can't infer much more from that, sorry

I can see exif

At 1/100 there shouldn't really be any camera shake - tis an odd one :(

Hmm, I've got a 75 and the only time they look that soft/out of focus is when I'm hand holding in low light and I've turned the flash off. I think there's something amiss with this 75!

Thanks for the input guys.

I've been in touch with canon and they want it to go back to a repair centre.

Does anybody else own this camera and are happy with the results ?

I'm thinking about cutting my losses and just buying a different make.

I've took lots of photographs with this camera whilst travelling and when I got home around 80% are out of focus. I don't have the confidence to take this away again.
